Ipad - Safari won't load webpages
all was well, then I open my Ipad and it won't connect to any webpage. It pulls in emails and allows me to watch my cable on there, but no webpage access.
I've googled on my Iphone and tried most of the suggestions, but nada.
I did pull down Firebox from the app store, but it doesn't seem to be working.
Any ideas how to resolve this? I really love to use this rather than sitting at my old desktop.
OS says 14.2 and up to date
I've restarted, cleared the cache/cookies, etc.
I just hooked up to my Iphone hotspot, using the Firefox browser and still can't connect...not sure why I can get emails and TV but not web...
I did a network reset, still didn't resolve.

2- Kill the Safari app, end process and make sure all tabs are closed and the app is closed. Now switch your iPhone or iPad to Airplane, wait for a few seconds and then go to the normal mode. Open Safari and try opening websites. This will solve Safari wont load pages or open websites.
More options at that website...

(8,546 posts)Go to Settings > WiFi > [info icon for your current connection] and scroll down to find the IP address listed under Router. Type that into your Safari address bar to see if you get a connection (should be a login page - assuming your router has web based configuration enabled).
If that works, there may be a DNS (domain name system) problem. Try temporarily changing the DNS setting to manual for your WiFi connection and using Google's DNS servers at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Now try going to a normal website (e.g. www.democraticunderground.com).
Also try that in FireFox (or whatever other browsers you have) if it's not working in Safari.
Does any error message display when you fail to connect to a website?

(5,650 posts)I think I know what youre talking about and will try the IP address. I was able to get the Firefox app and opened it but same result wont load.
Will report back after I give it a try. Away from home at the minute.

(8,546 posts)The router configuration page isn't guaranteed to work (although you could check from another device whether it does or not). I just wanted you to try a site that didn't require an internet connection.
The only iPad settings I can think of that would prevent a web browser from working would be having Cellular Data off for the browser (if you have Cellular and the WiFi connection doesn't have an internet connection), or Screen Time restrictions enabled (e.g. scheduled Downtime, time limits for apps, or web content restrictions). It couldn't hurt to double check those - I had weird setting change issues in Screen Time when I first upgraded to iOS 14.
You may want to ask in our Apple Users Group, someone might be be knowledgeable in there. Or search for an answer (or ask a question) on the Apple Discussion forums. Or even call Apple support.

(15,703 posts)1) close all open apps by tapping the round button twice to get a screen of tiled open apps, and then swipe up on each open app;
2) press and hold power button until it says "slide right to turn off," and slide right. Unplug and wait a couple of minutes. Then restart. Hope it helps!

(1,923 posts)Sounds like you have an interesting failure! It wasn't clear if your phone is using the same router and WiFi. Are you sure your phone is on the same WiFi? (vs. using cellular data to get to the net).
Some things I'd try:
(1) turn off cell-data on your phone (to force it to use WiFi) and see if it's still able to use the web. It could be the phone is using cellular to get to the net and not using your router (or your normal DNS servers) at all.
(2) Try power cycling your router (off, wait a minute, on). It might be the domain name service on your router that is failing (or maybe something with the NAT engine). A swift kick (er, power cycle) might be all that's needed.
(3) As Make7 suggested, try connecting to your router .. but be sure and put "http://" before the IP address of the router. The address you should see & use will likely be something like "192.168.0.1" or "10.0.1.1". Oh, and don't bother with this step if you have an old Apple branded WiFi base station ... they didn't use use normal web interfaces to configure. Almost all other routers (base stations) used web interfaces and should at least give you a login page.
(4) As a silly experiment, try connecting to the web site "http://1.1.1.1" (remember to put in the "http://" before the "1.1.1.1" ). You should see a simple ad for Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 product. This is one of the few public web sites I've found where you can connect to it's IP address instead of requiring a domain name. If this works (and the other sites don't), then it's a red-flag that your domain name service is busted and the next step would be to try and figure out why (and set it to something that works).

(5,650 posts)Same response with the 1.1.1.1, 10.0.1.1 as with a website address, little icon I upper right corner just spins and the little blue bar goes about an inch under the address box.
