Right after that travesty of a vote my laptop locked up.
I restarted it and got a harrowing, unannounced, unforeseen Windows 10 update that took 55 minutes to install! Just because this day wasn't bad enough, I guess. Has anyone else had this happen?

(30,170 posts)about a stuck "Getting Windows ready" screen when it finally said "Installing updates" which took a long time too. Did you have any warning at all?

(27,126 posts)It took about 20 minutes to download/restart, multiple times. I steer clear when Windows is doing system updates.

(27,126 posts)typically, MS recovers any apps running (Outlook, Excell, Powerpoint, etc). My Browser (Opera doesn't remember what pages were open. Could be, if you use MS Edge to use GMail or watch MSNBC that it does recover where you were in their browser.

(30,170 posts)I will feel more comfortable restarting when something locks up. MSNBC was in Edge, Gmail in Chrome.

(43,098 posts)If you click the message you will go to the scheduling time and day. You can
only put it off for a week if you set it up. But if you look at he top of the page
there is a slider that will let you turn it on or off. I turned mine off. This info
won't do you any good now but it might help others who read this.
