I finally purchased a new phone--2 days later dropped it, glass

..is shattered. Because I'm retired, on fixed income I opted not to add protection plan, glass protector or, a phone case..boy was completely wrong on not protecting my purchase. Checked with Verizon not even a 30day refund on purchase, so I'm shit out of luck! So..I called around replacement cost ranges between 100-200. [ Note only paid $250.00 for new phone wanted basic, no frills was happy to get new phone bc old one was literally being held together with small rubber bands so anything was better than what I had ] question to anyone out there is there an affordable way to replace glass..son says it's badly shattered may affect hardware something about dust moisture..to me it's usable--was thinking of just putting screen protector buy case to stabilize glass screen.

Thanks for allowing me to vent. I'm so upset with myself for not being proactive; upset with Verizon for allowing a customer to leave without the min. Protection eg glass protector, phone case. I should add a naive customer at that..so that's on me. Next time I'll know better. So with that, if anyone has any suggestions to minimize costs, please let me know. [ Note: I'm on a phone contract for 12 months for new phone.]

(you can even get a glass one for < $ 10).

There are lots of you tube videos on self-replacing screen glass. See if there are any for your model and decide for yourself if you want to try/risk it.

BTW: I consider a "basic, no frills" phone to be ~ $ 40.

Also if you are on Verizon consider in the future changing over to Visible Wireless - Verizon's budget brand. Unlimited text, phone and Internet for $25/month.

You’ll feel like you deserve a new one soon enough, and when u do, get a good case and use stick on screen protectors. They shatter instead of the glass.

Don’t feel bad, just put up with it for a while and then don’t.

It's very convenient, and I've dropped my phone many times with no damage. My phone is two years old and the screen is still perfect because it's so protected when it's closed. A nice case isn't at all expensive. I think the most I've ever paid was $15.

Call and find out what a new glass costs. You can probably mail the phone to them.

Get it fixed . Then go to Best Buys and get a glass protector.

After that, go to UAG and get a billfold type case.

Yes, you will be out $150 - 200 for all of this but you will have a phone that lasts.

Don't be hard on yourself. I have a $1,100 iPhone without insurance. And I have the two protective devices listed above.

I also have a phone finder app in case I misplace the phone. You can tag it to your son's phone.

Good luck.

Many have Purchase Protection plans ... I know AmEx does.

Definitely worth checking out and something to think about for future large purchases.
