Wi-Fi

This is more phone related than computer, but didn't know where else to put it. Here's the situation. Hubby and I have been with AT&T for our cell service forever. We'd really like to take advantage of some lower cost solutions with Spectrum, especially since our cable and Internet is with them and we could probably score a lower overall deal with them. But we don't know anyone personally who has Spectrum Wi-Fi. Everyone we know has AT&T or Cricket or Boost Mobile.

Does anyone here have any experience using Spectrum Wi-Fi for their Cell phone and, if so, what was your opinion on coverage, outage rate, etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!!

I believe you mean Spectrum Mobile.

And Spectrum Mobile service is actually provided by Verizon, they don't have their own service, it's a repackaging type of deal.

So AFAIK, having Spectrum Mobile is the same as having Verizon in almost all meaningful ways.

That said if you're meaning to keep using your existing AT&T phone, good chance it's not going to work and you'll need new phone(s).

with a WiFi hotspot and internet service from PCsForPeople. I pay $15 month for internet service (unlimited), and $14 for Republic Wireless. $29/month covers all of my phone, computer and entertainment.

PCsforpeople provides low cost computers and internet service for low income folks. I've been using it for several years and it has been very user friendly and reliable.

I don't have cable at all - can pretty much find anything I want to want online, sometimes for a fee. But I don't regret cutting the cord at all.

Good luck!

I’ll start by saying I’m in northern Michigan kinda rural.

Internet speeds are as good or better than Comcast’s. My kids live downstate and the same site that load quickly here take longer with Comcast.

Then the true kicker…since we have Spectrum internet we get our mobile for 14 bucks a month, no taxes, no odd fees… 14 dollars for one gig of data. There are so many Wi-Fi hotspots around most of what we use is Wi-Fi which does not count toward your data.

We have two lines…my wife’s and mine. We went from paying over 150 dollars a month with Verizon to 28 dollars a month. If you go over your one gig it’s 14 bucks each additional gig, at least that’s what it used to be, haven’t ever had to add on.

Internet alone is about 80 dollars but we have a small cable package also that keeps costs down and gives us more (cable).

Spectrum cable tv, landline, computer using Spectrum WiFi and Spectrum phone is our IPhone carrier. They just offered a deal for $29.99/month for 20 Gigs for phone. My husband has the $14.99 2 Gig plan as he doesn't need the gigs. They use Verizon towers so service is great. The phone rates ADD NO TAX. It is a flat $29.99. I live in St. Petersburg, FL. Check it out.
