iPhone question if you can help.
I am a simple user and text friends. I am able to delete texts when the conversation is over...except:
I am not able to delete the text from my daughter. No matter what I do, the delete options does not show. I have no idea what is causing this, any ideas about how to find a way to delete what is now a very long text?
Also, I was told by my other daughter that I had all kinds of apps within the phone.
She told me to go ho my home screen, double click button and swipe up,
OK, which is the home page, the one I see when I push the button to activate or the one that shows with all the icons?
Yes, I am an old timer who was given this phone with no instructions so I'm on my own.It is about 40 miles to an Apple store for help. so here I am. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
PR

(4,107 posts)is typically the one you see whenever you close an app or wake up your phone. It will have an icon for each app, and some small dots at the bottom that indicate how many pages of apps there are (assuming there are more than one). You should be able to swipe left and right to see the different pages of apps.
I take it this is not an iPhone 11. It still has the button at the bottom? That will be useful info in figuring out how to delete a text.

(4,107 posts)not a whole conversation, you can hold your finger on the text for a second, and a menu will appear. You have to select "More..." and then it will let you select individual texts. Once you have selected the ones you want to delete, touch the trash can in the bottom right.
Hope this helps.

(7,506 posts)My daughters initials still show at the top of the screen but I can get beyond that with any new text. I appreciate the help.
Tactical Peek
(1,268 posts). . . probably because that screen is her 'feed' of messages to you. To the left of her initials there might be an arrow thingie facing left which if pressed will go to the page showing 'Messages' and list other sources of messages to you, and have a Search box at the top.

(7,349 posts)Also, Apple is just a phone call away and Ive always had good customer service from them.
Try holding your finger on the text you want to delete and you should get multiple options, trashing being one of them, along with forwarding, etc.
Your homepage is where all your apps are
.try lightly swiping from the bottom of your screen to access your flashlight, brightness, etc. its tricky and I have a difficult time sometimes but just keep playing with it.
Most apps can be found in the App Store and can be installed from there, unless someone has already downloaded them to your iPhone.
Hope this helps

(17,022 posts)I have an SE. If I want to delete texts from my dad, for instance, I'll push the text icon and go under the heading "known senders." When I get in there, I push the icon at the top of the screen that has "..." on it. Then I see 3 possibilities come up: "select messages, edit PINs, or edit name and photo." Then I press "select messages." After that, a series of circles will show up next to each name. I select the circle next to "dad." Then I'll see "delete" at the bottom of the screen and I press it. That will get rid of the texts from my dad.

Next, if you could try. 1. 2 fingers or 2. move your daughters messages to the middle of screen before trying to delete
