Wireless mouse not scrolling sometimes

I have had this mouse maybe two years.
Lately it may or may not scroll, using the wheel.

It may scroll part of a page and stop; it may work fine on another or not scroll at all.
If I switch pages, website, it may work, work sometimes, or not at all.

I changed the battery. Checked settings.

It's a cheap Logitech Full Size Wireless Mouse.

1. Get a new mouse.

IMO, it's not worth the aggravation to try to get it to work, once you've done everything that you've done.

If you got two years you did well...no fixing as far as I have found, I just replace...

3. Dirt builds up on the sensors

during use. Now you can take the mouse apart and clean all the wheels and sensors, and maybe get it back together again, or simply buy a new mouse for $5-$10 at Big Lots.

4. Did you try...

Taking out the battery and knocking the little particles of stuff in it? If you can locate any contacts, some kind of alcohol based cleaner on a Qtip might help.

I have one that has faded and is just plain worn out after about six years, but I clean it when it doesn't seem to respond to command. When that doesn't work, that's when I get a new one.

8. Pencil erasrr is great for cleaning comtacts too

But wheel is prob worn out.

5. Mouse Fuzz Gums-Up The Wheel

Maybe try circulating a spritz of alcohol nearby that poorly scrolling wheel might help to loosen its tail...(OR not)?

6. I find lint gets down around the scroll wheel

I have a Logitech M525. I take a plastic toothpick, bend a tiny hook in the end and poke it down to the axle of the scroll wheel. I then spin the wheel in different directions, wiggle the toothpick and fluff gets loosened up and can be pulled out. I use a bright flashlight and my strongest reading glasses to see. It takes some fiddling on either side of the wheel to get the fluff out.

Usually it will intermittently scroll in one direction when this is the problem.

7. All sorts of gunk gets in the mouse wheel

If you have a can of compressed air, aim that in the channel where the mouse is. It should work. I also have a similar Logitech mouse, and this works.

9. Thanks for the suggestion. I just blew out the wheel with air and it works better.

It is about a 3 year old Logiteh #M705 and it would get touchy every so often. Went thru the battery business, maybe I dislodged some dust then. It has been fine as of late but your idea might be the solution and make this thing last longer.
