Suggestions for free, secure faxing app?
I need to fax some financial documents, thinking fellow DUers must have already researched this
For iOS.

(1,923 posts)I've always been hesitant to send faxes though these internet fax services. By
necessity they will have a copy of your fax ... unencrypted.
For unimportant stuff, it'd be fine. But the OP did ask for "secure" faxing.

(1,923 posts)All-in-one laser printers/scanners/faxes are cheap. I've been really happy
using my printer's print-to-fax features for years now.
And it's something I can trust, which isn't something I can say about
any of the App's or web services that will fax something "for you".
Your iOS device does not have a Fax modem in it. So it's physically
impossible for it to become a real fax machine (or to send to another fax).
All of the fax apps connect to a remote server that faxes for you ... and
you'll be sending unencrypted info to that server for them to relay.

Thanks!

(1,923 posts)Oh, I should have also mentioned that the all-in-one printers (print, scan, fax) will need an old fashioned land-line phone connection to dial out to the remote fax. I keep forgetting that most people don't bother with land-lines anymore.
If it's a one-time thing, and needs to be secure, easiest might be the nearest Kinko's (or other business services store).
Thanks!
