What's a really lightweight PDF reader for Win8.1 ?
I've been using Acrobat Reader but it's got waaaaaaay too many settings for me to figure out how to correct its more annoying misfeatures.
(Win8.1? Yeah, I'm really not cutting edge. And I hardly ever use Windows. Not worth the effort to adapt to Win10.)

Foxit is free for the reader. Writer costs money, but still easier than Adobe.

(79 posts)Is a barebones, free open source ebook reader that does a great job on pdfs and other formats too. I have used it for something like 10 years and would easily recommend it :

(20,987 posts)Especially if you use browser-native PDF readers a lot (I do.) When it's installed it will make itself your "default" pdf reader even when you are in-browser, meaning that instead of you clicking on a .pdf link and it automatically and without comment opening in another browser tab, you will get a Foxit pop-up asking you which viewing option you want to select and if you select Foxit, it will always display in the Foxit dashboard which surrounds it with visual junk.
Just sayin'....
