First, I miss my desktop. I love my desktop.

A few days ago, the mouse apparently died. The left button quit working. I bought another mouse at the only local place that sells them Walgreens]. All they had was a wireless logitech. I can't get it to work. I can't do anything like reloading mouse drivers--I have no mouse to navigate.

I am typing this on a laptop. I hate it. My tech guy has not responded back.

Please help me! {insert upside down flag here}.

1. There should be a tiny USB stub to put in a usb port. Check the box. N/T

2. Also check the battery compartment of the mouse

Logitech often puts the USB wireless receiver inside the mouse.

Remove it and put it in the usb port of the desktop. You should be on the internet. You may have to reboot.

6. It might be a Bluetooth Mouse

Newer mice these days use BlueTooth and assume your computer has BlueTooth built-in. So ... no USB receiver to plug in. It's both nice and awful. Nice that there's not an additional component, awful in that initial setup can be tricky without a wired mouse.

3. I had a similar problem and this worked for me.

Using the laptop, I bought a Macally 3-button optical USB wired mouse off the Macally web site.

It worked, and I used it to reset my preferences for my wireless mouse. Next day, my wireless misbehaved again. So, I went back to the Macally and have never looked back.

I spoke with a very knowledgeable computer guy, and he shared with me his practice. His toolbox always has a USB wired mouse.

4. You might

You may need to find an old wired mouse in order to install the logitech unifying software, or maybe a wired keyboard.... I don't think The mouse can work without the unifying setup..

These days, unless you're using a flashy gaming mouse, there's no need to worry about drivers for an off-the-shelf mouse.
