I updated several passwords yesterday, no problems

I've been putting it off a long time, but I got the sites I worry the most about changed. After I changed them on the site, I logged out and logged back in to be sure I had no problems. If you use Facebook, be sure you have your login information written down somewhere, and be sure your most current phone number of email is on your fb account. It seems close to impossible to get into your account if you don't know your pw, or if you can't access the phone number listed on your fb account. (Thanks to several friends who have lost access)

There were a couple of sites that didn't ask to confirm the new password, and one site had changed some of the special characters they accept in a password. I was glad I tested my new passwords.

1. I recently did the same thing

It's prudent to update one's passcodes frequently. It's also a pain in the ass!

I keep a printout of every passcode and user name for every site I use. There are too many to remember and I don't repeat them. Thankfully, my MacBooks remember all the information.

My email account was hacked once. Too much of a pain to let it happen again.

2. I was changing annually

and let it go way too long. I was lucky not to be hacked. I had some of the passwords memorized, so that was part of the reason I put it off. I updated my hard copy while I was at it.

My credit union is the only online site I use that requires a password change every 3 months. I wish I could make myself change some of the other sites that often

3. Most browsers of any worth integrate a password manager

It can create strong passwords, and save them all. I use it for all except financial sites which I still do manually.

The volume of passwords is astounding. Browsers allow backup to html file which you can then save off-line, off computer - on a backup drive or USB stick.
