Do I need this notification from Microsoft?
I'm an old timer with an old Windows 10(updated) Dell computer. Every week or two, I get this blue page from MS and I don't know that I need or want whatever they are promoting. I always hit the button "notify me in 3 days.
I've Googled and cannot find any real information except how to stop this annoying thing. I don't know what most of it is talking about.
Do I need it or will I end up calling me computer guy to bail me put of whatever MS is peddling. The link I provide shows the screen. MY computer works just fine without something else to mess me up.
What should I do. Is this necessary?
Thanks for any guidance.

(7,506 posts)I know I'll screw it up. There is no way to investigate each of these "wonderful" things from MS. You either do it or not.
I just had my computer guy here to fix the mess Canon did with an update to my printer, I've no money to keep paying for something I don't really need.

(26,366 posts)programs. Unclicking the box as shown in the video you posted stops Microsoft from telling you to use more of their software. You'd be surprised all the things I remove from Windows 10 when I set up a computer for use in a business, unfortunately Microsoft keeps trying to add stuff back with every update.
You could always just click [Continue] and "Finishing setting up" just be sure to "skip" what you don't want (which is probably everything).

Link your phone? Hell no. Just more private data they can sell.
Enhace your browsing experience? You are better off with Firefox.
Office 365? You don't really need another subscription service, do you?
Do you trust Microsoft to keep your files safe and private? BTW, this is another subscription service.

(7,506 posts)I will keep clicking on the "call later" option and the heck with them. I use Firefox and trust them. Don't need any more baloney from MS. I find it offensive that MS does not give any option before you click on this notification. I'm a simple user. Don't need any more junk. How much money do they need anyway?
I always appreciate any advice I receive from this group. At my age, I'm lucky I can turn the damn machine on.
Best to all and thanks.
