non-earthshaking question
When I type posts, I often use contractions, and often, the last part of the contraction doesn't type in. For example, I'll mean to type naven't, but when I check, all I see is have. It happens quite a lot, to the point that I check every post to be sure is says what I mean.
Wonder if there's a reason that my keyboard or other computer component would do this? Or am I touching something by accident?

(19,009 posts)Not very old, but I notice that already, I have to be pretty firm with some of the keys. If it is the keyboard, it would be the ' n and t keys, or the 'r e keys. I notice my t and e keys need to be pressed harder than the others. The keyboard has other quirks, such as the cursor jumping from where I'm at to where I was, have to check for phrases type in the wrong place. And finally, sometimes my whole post disappears, but I think I somehow highlight what I just typed and as soon as I hit a key, it erases the whole post. Trying to remember to keep my wrists up.
It might be my typing habits.

(33,643 posts)In fact, the mouse/keyboard will switch to working on either computer simply by holding down the control key while pushing to the edge of the screen between them.
Tech is called Logitech Flow. Pretty freaking cool.

(33,643 posts)Are you saying you see it in your draft, but then when you preview/post it disappears?
Or are you saying the key entries are just ignored period, you don't see them in your draft?

(19,009 posts)and after a proof read, post. Although with my eyes, I often miss a typo until I read the posted text. You'll see I have often edited my posts :/ That is when I see the missing contraction. I hate it when I type something like 'I haven't voted r for 50 years' and it shows up as 'I've voted r for 50 years.' Annoying

(13,786 posts)DU is pretty verbatim, though after typing, in preview and post, some characters don't show in a title, or more fun, crash the web page upon preview/post, returning some nonsense (I forgot exactly what happened last time this happened).
I'd look for system setting for autocorrect or anticipation.
One of my keyboards does not input the apostrophe when I hit the key. If I used autocorrect, that might be messing things up. So check the apostrophe key.
I turned off all input correction and stuff goes in verbatim. Some substitutions were pretty embarrasing.

Are you seeing this problem in both boxes?
