2. Well, yes...

I usually get the message when I'm shutting down, it will ask if I want to update and shut down, or update and restart.

Of course, we don't know a lot about your equipment or versions. I'm using windows 10, and I get updates on a somewhat regular basis. Did the message lock your cap lock key on as well?

4. Microsoft updates are released every Tuesday.

Regardless of what Version of operating system you are using.

5. Today is Patch Tuesday. Every 2nd Tuesday of the month, Windows auto installs

a "cumulative update" with security fixes, bug fixes and minor feature updates.

It's normal. It's also recommended for most Windows users.
