Here's a weird change that arrived with the latest Windows update.
About a week ago, Microsoft updated my OS. on my business PC When I went to save biz files, it was defaulting to my One Drive. Aggravating, but not a critical issue.
Yesterday, my laptop got updated.....and when I restarted, I found some (not all) of my business Desktop files now residing on my laptop! When I started my business PC this AM, those files were missing! I was able to copy the files from the laptop back to my PC....but I hope this isn't going to be an ongoing issue.
Wondering if anyone has experienced this?

(28,361 posts)MS is pushing for One Drive to be the user's cloud of choice. I use Dropbox and Google Drive for my cloud needs, but I recently checked One Drive and MS is busy uploading files....I must have given permission to do this, but if this is the result, I might want to take the permission away.

(10,002 posts)to find and revise an ancient AutoCad drawing. That was a sweet experience. After booting up clean and fast, ACAD effortlessly made the changes and saved/transferred the drawing and data files to a thumb drive - with no back talk from the OS either. I was reminded that before retiring, a simpler OS and applications made that work almost fun. Now, not so much.
I understand that Windows 12 will be coming down from the Mount pretty soon. Oh boy.

(18,122 posts)About MS pushing One Drive. It's part of a drive by big tech companies to corral you into their section of the internet and never have you leave.
For all sorts of reasons, myself being the only user being one of them, I don't want a password on my machine, neither do I want a microsoft account or bloody one drive. You have to install Windows and read the set-up screens until your eyes bleed to catch the tiny lettering that permits you to proceed without a MS account.
