I don't think you can "borrow" photos from IMDB. I could be wrong. Anyway, below is the link that shows you how to post photos here on DU:

Have been able to post an image here and there now and then.

But for the life of me I can't figure out how to beg, borrow, or steal the URLs of pictures on IMDB.

And I thank you for your kind words!

My hint might do the trick. Or not!

And thank you for your link! I'm remiss in my lack of attention to your efforts!

I'm a bit disjointed; hope my post makes sense.

First, they put pictures in "carousels" so you can't just "open picture in a new tab" as most sites will let you do, nor copy the image link to paste into DU. I couldn't even save the image below to disk/storage.

So I took a screenshot, saved it to disk, and uploaded it to an image hosting site. In my case, I used https://imgbb.com.
This is not the user-friendliest site but I have worked out a routine. You may like another better and I am sure you will.

Here's the shot.

On ios there's no "open image" so that you can copy the link.
So, either save the image to your camera roll and upload it later, or if the site won't let you save the image ( mean-spirited JavaScript) then take a screensnap and upload that later.

I have tried all these things, and encountered all kinds of mean webmaster tricks.

I hope I've kept this as simple as possible.
Just to let you know that some sites make it difficult to copy images (imdb does) and that it's doable.

BTW, if you search for images, some will come up with URLS that DU cannot handle. They have weird characters in them and so on.
In that case, do save the image to your camera roll ("Show image" always works) and upload that.

"The internet is one tough town".
Good luck.

Done a search by image on the one I wanted to no avail, figured I'd have to do a screenshot and go that route. Started a free online hosting site once about 6 months ago but it wasn't very user friendly and I gave up. Need to look around again. Will read your entire link tomorrow when my brain isn't so tired.

Directly copy or save images from IMDb. There is another way to get them onto your computer.
In Firefox and Waterfox there is a command in Tools "Show Page Info".
Go there, open the "Media" tab and highlight the selected image.
Then hit "Save As" at the bottom.

Not much of an improvement on taking a screenie - still needs to be uploaded to a hosting site.

But gave it up when I retired. Now using the free version of Post Images and it does just fine.
