(22,540 posts)I just need to ask a few questions about this:
1) What kind of browser are you using, and is it up to date?
2) Are you seeing this completely randomly, or does it seem to happen on specific pages? If so, which pages?
Thanks!

(23,039 posts)1: seamonkey, no longer supported
2: seen it on a more modern version of fire fox.
3: very random
4: opened in a seperate window and here is the link https://www.alsothecrumbsplease.com/substitute-for-apple-butter/ i understand sometimes that is the fault of the wepbage designer not closing script . ps your millage may vary. may or may not get the message .
Sorry I thought you meant you were seeing this on DU (although you may be seeing it on DU as well).
I can't replicate it on my computer but that error typically means that your browser is waiting too long for a script to complete. It could be an issue with the particular script, or it could also be a connection issue -- either a general connection issue, or an issue with your connection to that particular website. It could also be an extension in your browser causing the issue, or even a driver somewhere on your computer that needs updating.
it's hard to tell especially if you're just seeing it randomly wherever you go. Bottom line though is that if you're using an old unsupported browser I'd say that there's a chance that you would be more likely to see the error. The browser could be running out of memory, especially if you have lots of tabs open.

(22,540 posts)Javascript is a standard web technology used by many websites for core functionality. Modern browsers should have no problems handling it, but development stopped on Seamonkey back in 2018 -- it uses an old, outdated Javascript engine.
Unfortunately it's likely that these issues are going to keep getting worse over time if you keep using Seamonkey -- not just on DU, but wherever you go online. My recommendation would be to upgrade to a modern browser -- not just for this issue, but because they will give you much better security online too, since they're constantly updated with security patches.
If you don't want to use one of the major browsers, there are alternatives like Brave which might be more appealing to you. I'm sure if you asked in the Lounge or in Computer Help & Support, people would be happy to suggest other alternatives too.
