Halp again! - late today, first Startup, Chrome opens then cursor inoperative and

flashing spurts all over the display, like rapid something/whatever moving horizontally and on down the display wildly. Sometimes i can move the cursor but it won't click to close windows or activate.

It's a laptop. Am typing this on phone. The problem just appeared right now on a day i was away and didn't use it all day, which is unusual.

Can key the Task manager but the flashing doesn't let anything click. Have force Powered off just to get out. Can't click on virus scan or anything.

No threats found. Got to DU, was logged out, got to the signin, then the flashing started. Force powered off.

Or can you borrow a monitor and a VGA (the blue plug) lead?

I'd be testing the laptop with an external monitor to see if the same behaviour happened. Right now, I'm thinking one of two things -
1. Your laptop screen is borked
2. Your graphics processor is buggered. Maybe it's onboard ie built into the motherboard, or it's a dedicted GPU (graphics processing unit).

Either way, if you can get an external monitor working, that sort of rules out the GPU going bad and you can almost back it in that the laptop screen is faulty.

On edit: Have a look at this link and see if you can find anything useful. https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/fix-windows-10-screen-flashing-problem/

Earlier, in Settings, fishing around found out that Airplane Mode was On, turned it off. Don't know whether this was the problem. Don't know whether this "normal" spell is permanent or not.

it was about the (whole? ) screen flickering. My prob was of frantic auto scrolling with speeding lights running through/past every little item, word, graphic on the screen.
