I'm getting myself a new iPhone 15 Plus. I will be picking it up at Verizon tomorrow

Trading in my old iPhone 7 which is becoming obsolete. Just wondering if anybody has any tips of what I should or should I do. I will be paying the $29.95 to get all my info transferred from my old phone to the new one. Has anyone done that?

I got an iPhone 15 and my son got the 15+.. we did the data transfer right at the store. We probably screwed around for an hour as the salesman was distracted every few minutes. Don’t leave the store till they’ve walked thru all the necessary setup.

Apple tech support will talk you through it if you need them to. Or verison tech support will too.

Enjoy yr new phone. I went from a 10 to a 14, was a great upgrade.

(I have super computers and cameras, so the phone is as simple as can be)

The old iPhone 8 was backed up to iCloud. So iCloud had all my settings and contacts and so on. And they were downloaded from iCloud. Bingo, a working phone. I needed the iCloud login to do this.

I did NOT want the hundreds of old apps, but once you purchase an app, it can be downloaded from the App Store any time. (A tiny number are obsolete and can’t) I chose to download apps as I needed, making the screens as simple as possible. Speeded things up, as well.

Now, I recall that with a new phone, you can transfer everything just by putting the two phones in proximity, and asking to transfer everything (with suitable passwords). Same for iCloud restore from backup, perhaps slower. This is all free.

I suspect that the transfer fee means that someone at Verizon is going to do the transfer for you, and perhaps using a box normally used by authorities to break into phones, because I saw a Verizon dealer do so legitimately for a customer.

Verizon should be able to do all you need. Do have your iCloud account and password available. You will need them, as well as your Verizon login and password.

Enjoying my much fewer apps.
Good luck. Enjoy. Hope your transfer goes smoothly and quickly.

I didn't have to pay extra for it. It was weird, they just set the new phone next to the old one, and the new one magically sucked all the data out of the old one.
