How do I deactivate my Xitter account?
I decided to join the masses who have been rushing over to join bluesky. If anyone wants to find me over there, my username is @bluestatebeliever.bsky.social.
Next step: Kick Xitter and its evil overlord to the curb. Only I can't figure out how to do it.
I could Google, but I thought I'd rather ask my DU friends first.

(25,513 posts)I don't plan on deactivating my Twitter acct. I've been ignoring it.

(18,641 posts)I've been ignoring the account for years, but I want to wash my hands of it completely. Deactivation will send a message that just staying away doesn't.
I've just been reading that there is a surge in deactivations going on since the election, and I want to be part of it!

(18,641 posts)It wanted my password, which I couldn't remember, so I went to "change password," clicked "forgot password," and started following those instructions. Instead of sending me a link to reset my password like most websites, it kept asking for additional pieces of information. I finally hit a dead-end when it asked for my phone number. It didn't like either my cell number or my land line. I think there's something fishy going on. I'm just trying to change my danged password, not even trying to deactivate yet, and it keeps throwing up roadblocks!

(1,869 posts)My reading comprehension is fully functional. I followed their instructions x4. At this point, I could do it in my sleep. Each attempt led to a dead end Oops! Something went wrong. Try again later. What do they want with me if I dont want them?

(18,641 posts)I guess it hurts his widdle fee-fees.
It doesn't really surprise me that he'd deliberately make it as hard as possible. Which just makes me want to do it that much more!
I guess I'll do some googling and see if I can pick up some pointers.

(5,138 posts)I wonder what it would take. I guess I could just post "fuck Donald Trump and his South African lapdog" over and over and see if he notices.
That sounds like a lot of trouble, though. I think I'll see if I can figure out how to deactivate first.
