(32,260 posts)HELP.....what cell phone carrier should I get for just me. I know single lines will be terribly expensive but I'd like some input. Thank you.

I go with Verizon. I get a discount from work for going through them and the coverage is decent enough here in Iowa. There are some spots in far northeast Iowa where the coverage is spotty but where I live it's just fine. I wouldn't not recommend AT&T though - the coverage still doesn't seem as good as the other companies. Too many dead zones. Hell a few years ago my own home was outside any coverage area and I live near a major city.

(561 posts)It costs me $31 and change monthly. I think I'm getting an extra $5/mo
off because it's an iPhone and they auto charge my credit card.
Check the coverage map on their website. VM uses the Sprint network. I get great reception. I don't think it would work as well if we still traveled much; we used to keep a cheap Tracfone to take along when we traveled. It was on AT&T's network.
Anyway, I have unlimited text, Voice & internet for $31 monthly with no contract.
You do have to buy the phone up front but as far as I'm concerned it's worth it.

(17,276 posts)You can get an iPhone and use it with Tracfone. The one I found is at Target, the iPhone SE. Tracfone subsidizes it so it is $199.99 instead of $349.99.
