I turn it on with the button on the back of the screen, it comes on with the little Apple icon, is on for about 5 sec then goes to black. I think its dead.

Still boots up and runs the Adobe suite of Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
Slowly but it does. Use my iPad for everything now just cant get rid of the tower, dont know why.

That's one advantage of having a Mac.

(14,742 posts)Could be the hard drive took a dump.. Time for a new one?? or a referb?? I got a referb iMac and it died after a week. Took it back to the genius bar and the manager just said
"give him a new one"...... Nice ! Good customer service IMHO.

(32,260 posts)hoping my time machine will have my backups.....if not, then my last 8 years are all gone. Going to Apple store tomorrow, plan is to just suck it up and buy another iMac.

(32,260 posts)to do stuff and I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT ID BE DOING.....Im just lost even reading this stuff. But thank you for your suggestion..... Will just take to our Apple store and see if they can deal with it. Wish I could do all thats suggested.
