I need a CD/DVD drive/burner. Plus I just got a 27" iMac
My iPad 1 works just fine. I don't NEED an upgrade. But yet ...

(48,219 posts)I just bought a 15" MacBook Pro and an iPad2 in May, so I'm good for another couple of years. I'll wait till all my fellow translators are boasting about all the things that they can do with their machines that I can't do with mine, which, based on previous experience, will be about three years from now.

(28,017 posts)But the iPad 2 I have . . . . damn, that screen looks dated and old. ( )

(2,176 posts)I passed on the ipad 2, but now I am ready for a new one. My first gen is really slow compared to the ipad2 that I use at school. I'm finally ready for the camera and skyping with my husband when I'm on the road. I'm putting away my pennies as we speak.

(51,122 posts)I believe that I will be able to do 75%+ of what I do on my Mac, on an iPad.
My MBP will be three years old in late Summer. I usually replace my machines every three to four years.
I think that an iPad might extend that by a year or two. And my MBP will be compatible with Mountain Lion.
Then again, when I see a 17-inch 'MacBook Pro Air' at the Apple store, I might hock our cats to buy one.

(68,644 posts)Not that I use it. I mostly use my MBAir, my MBP only for time when I need the larger screen and better sound, like for presentations.
I'm excited to see what the new Pad will bring, and if I can use my USB modem on it in any way, I would snatch one up.

(28,017 posts)Apple bought up a few ships to bring in well wrapped, well protected iPads by the hundreds of thousands? and that's delaying his shipping?

(23,785 posts)If I see a town I don't recognize, I'll mapquest it, to see where it is - like is it near Philadelphia or Pittsburgh.
The ipad has made it from China to Alaska yesterday, probably as part of a fleet of airplanes loaded with ipads. Now they'll head south to the contiguous states. The ipad will be more of a world traveler than its owner.

(23,785 posts)I'm envisioning something that resembles the Berlin airlift, plane after plane full of ipads which had been collecting under tight security in Shenzhen.
Mine (or more correctly, my wife's) arrived Louisville KY early this morning, just after midnight. Now it's not a very long drive NNE to my house, but it'll be kept securely under wraps until the 16th. Coincidence that Louisville is near Fort Knox?

(51,122 posts)As MG Siegler said in his review:
'(if you stay with the iPad 1 or 2) treat the new iPad as if it were Medusa when youre in an Apple Store. Do. Not. Look. At. It.'
My wife got hers. She's pretty happy.
I got mine at the office, but I won't have time to even open it until tomorrow.
