iPhone text blocking app

Is there an app to stop junk texts for my iPhone? I keep getting weight loss junk texts. I type back stop, but they keep coming, appearing to be from different numbers every time.

Alternatively, is there somewhere I can report this? I understood STOP should stop texts by law.

Junk texts usually end if I reply stop. I did have one that told me to reply END if I didn't want more texts. That didn't work, but STOP did.

you are letting them know you are there and the # works. Just my 2 cents.

And Curt is right, spammers are relentless and never caught.

That would cause more headaches that deleting the texts.

My phone allows me to only ring if the caller is in my contact list. I wish I could do the same for texts.

6. I know those who resorted to a new number, who then received countless calls/text spams

targeted at the PREVIOUS owner of the number.

So, I'd not hold out a lot of hope that will fix things.

However, I sense its not up to par for what you need.

Also, I suggest call your phone company.

7. If it is a phone number or name that is always the same

Add it into your contacts and then goto settings - Messages and add the contact to "Blocked Contacts"

Or they appear to be. I gather spammers can make calls come from a different number than their own.

8. There are text blockers out there.

I have AT&T and just downloaded their spam call blocker. The have a text blocker as well. The basic version of the call blocker was free. I believe it's the same for the spam text blocker. I went with AT&T rather than one of the others 1) because I have AT&T, and 2) it had more downloads and reviews than the others.

10. Do not text back -- that only keeps them coming

Never text "STOP" to a spam message. It is simply a reply, and they know the number is good and sell it to more buyers. Only use the STOP option when a text is from a legitimate source and specifically states that texting STOP will take you off their list.

I'm getting a million texts wanting to sell my house. Many state my name wrong, and address wrong. I assume it is so I will reply saying that is not my name or address and bam! They've got my number. I've been blocking them but it's ridiculous, so I'm on the hunt for a way to also stop these scam text messages.

Texting anything back tells them you've read the text. So now your number is much more valuable to spammers than a randomly generated number. Sadly, the same logic applies to answering the phone.

And you can't block them, because they've spoofed the originating number and can appear from anything.

Just delete it and pressure the new admin to implement verified secure caller-id and block faked text messages too.

I thought it you texted STOP to these outfits, they were required to drop you. It has worked with some things, like political campaigns.

Yes, if it's a real company/organization, then they'll often have STOP to stop the texts. But if they're 100% fake or spammers, then there's nothing that works. It's exactly the same hitting the "unsubscribe" button in junk emails. If it's a real company, it works. And if it's forged or 100% fake then following the unsubscribe links just tells them that you've read the email!

11. I just deleted the texts with out opening. After a while they just stopped.

Then again I'm not on social media so I guess they are going for low hanging fruit..
