Related: About this forumso, i am convinced the malware i picked up
is from the solar winds hack.
it something called p. more here- https://www.democraticunderground.com/10965188
there was an article posted here today or yesterday that it started 9 mos ago. right about the time frame that it started.
and it isnt just messing w my online accounts. it hijacked the control key in my indesign.
and i'm pretty sure this new ipad has it too. i still have trouble w a few accounts, but the worst one is chase bank. not only do i have to jump through several hoops to get into my account, i sent a bank to bank transfer the other day that never arrived.
i never could get a mailbox on this thing, and the bluetooth slowly stopped connecting to one thing after another. i was using it to hotspot, and to run a bluetooth speaker. it just slowly degraded to where i had to use the personal hotspot instead of the blue tooth, and it wont talk to the speaker at all.
it also appears to keep the laptops going when they should be asleep, and interferes w charging.
i took one of the laptops back in this am, and told them what i know. they looked at me like i was nuts.
but i told them they better get on it.
i am assuming these devices are dead. my question is- can i safely save my files?

(8,443 posts)1. Where are the files ? On Mac , I presume ? or Cloud ?
2. Regarding your Control Key. I suggest make a movie about it with a phone.
3. Bluetooth is an issue for me also. I suspect my iPhone bluetooth is gone. My Mac Bluetooth is fine.
4. Chase bank is a target for hackers. Eventually, I might suggest, shop around at local credit unions. In my region of southern Wisconsin, Summit CU and UW CU are the two leaders.
5. I am going to send a message to you to explain certain aspects.
6. Regarding charging, I can speculate but the possibilities are too many. And my skill is less proficient there.

(71,687 posts)as well as the bluetooth. it kept pairing w my neighbors tv. i got a new sim card, and it's better.
the laptops also apparently run while closed. one of them was paired to a bluetooth speaker and every once in a while the speaker tells me it's connected, then says it's diconnected.
the batteries run down in a couple days even sitting closed.
and i use up my data minutes if i leave my hotspot open on the pad. tmobil couldnt find anyone logging on, but it runs up minutes anyway.
and yes, on a mac, some on the cloud. but not much. mostly just pics i have taken on the pad.
i'm gonna replace the sim on the pad. it's very slow sometimes.
pics, but also graphic design work and a lot of writing. the writing is mostly just outlines and ideas, so not a big deal. i'll print out the design work. and some of the pics.
maybe reshoot the prints.
frustrating as fuck. esp when tech ppl think i've lost my mind.

(8,443 posts)lets continue the hard evidence gathering.
1. Do not do any online banking on your work accounts for a while.
2. get the screenshots or movies.
3. consult a new professional regarding charging and bluetooth.
Data backups.
1. Either a USB flash drive. or
2. a Terabyte size backup usb drive. My Office Depot or whatever its called had one for about 70 $.
Lets proceed from there. New message sending.
