What does it mean to install Linux "from a host system" ?

Today I encountered the same problem and found a quirky solution to it. It is no problem at all to boot Ubuntu 14.04.2 (Mac edition). You will find it in the cdimages section of their website. EFI 32 does not like usb-sticks so do not bother to try booting from usb. I installed Ubuntu, used it as a host system to install Arch, and am currently using Ubuntu's generated /boot to get Arch up and running. So far everything works fine.

It sounds like all I need is Lubuntu installed on the HD (done) and an install CD for Manjaro (got that) and I should be able to install Manjaro (derived from Arch) on a formatted partition (got that) on my MacPro 2,1 despite that machine requiring a 32-bit bootloader to install a 64-bit OS (thanks, Apple). But how exactly ? I can't boot from the Manjaro CD, but I can read the files, so what next ?

1. It means you already have Linux installed

But you're installing a second instance if Linux on a different partition or disk, and you use the already-installed Linux instead of an installation CD to do it.

3. "USE" how ? That's the question !

I've never done a Linux install except by rebooting from a DVD, and that can't be done here. Do I download a .iso of Manjaro to the Lubuntu disk, and use the .iso file instead of the DVD ? What *command* actually begins the installation ? Is there some way to boot another OS from the terminal CL without a hard reboot ?

2. Can they network boot? PXE server?

I think I have used that method to install on a system that had a bad dvd drive at one time.
