Linux online education?

I've been distro-hopping in Linux for years, but I don't really know it in much depth. Lately I've been thinking that I should be a little more structured, maybe take some online classes and get certified. The final result I'm hoping for is employability. I have a background in information technology, mostly mainframe.

Any suggestions as to the best and/or most frugal way of accomplishing this?

Some of the information, especially where it talks about hardware specs, is outdated. But there is also a ton of good, timeless information on Linux, and POSIX in general, I guess.
