Wondering about a huge spike in visits to my websites.
I have three blogs and I used to get minor traffic. On a good day I might get 100 hits, right after I'd post something. For the last month or two, I've been getting a huge number of hits. Like over a thousand hits a day. They seem to be coming mainly from Singapore. Any idea what gives?

(3,374 posts)I used to check the hits. Many came from Russia, but I do not know if they were from European Russia or from Asian Russia. I got many hits from Asian countries as well.

(3,374 posts)I get very few views of my business site, since I am mostly retired from the career for which I created that site. Yesterday, I did get a passing view from an out-of-state town of which I had not previous known.

(1,923 posts)Within moments of bringing up a wordpress site (on our own machine), the system was pummeled with bots trying to break in. I spent a week monitoring the URL's being requested (or the "posts" being attempted) to make sure we had it locked down well.
It might be useful to check the actual URL's that are being "read" to see if they're reading your blog or trying different attacks.
The best news would be if something on your blog was referred to by some other popular site. But my best guess would be that your site made some sort of list to train AI engines and they're playing with AI.
