this is priceless...

Last week I posted a rant about my job http://www.democraticunderground.com/10026315596.

In it I mentioned babysitting another application 24/7. Just received the below email from a contractor working on that system - mind you, this outfit once helped put men on the moon.

Importance: High

Hello,
We here at ****** are receiving theses deactivation e-mails every 15min, please let me know if tests are being performed and if so is there an end-date as I’m concerned that our e-mail server will reach its capacity, which would prevent my ****** team from sending out critical notification messages compromising our notification obligations to our Customer. Please advise!

Thank you,

******-

I’m not sure what sort of mail server you are running that can’t handle an email every 15 minutes. The ****** ETL sends notifications of status after every execution and has been for years. Here is the list of email addresses it sends notifications to:

If there are any that need to be removed so that your mail server doesn’t crash, please let me know.

Thanks

If they have a 1000+ accts and get email alerts every 15 mins, but if it's just one account, it'd be an annoyance but not an emergency.
