Lieberman did during his re-election. Lieberman lost the Democratic nomination to Lamont in 2006 by a 4% margin. Sinema is polling below 30% in the Democratic Primary for the 2024 AZ US Senate Election.

She's spending her time in the Senate making connections...since 2018 her personal wealth has gone from $85,000 to well over $1,000,000. She spends most of her time rubbing elbows with republican donors and very little time doing much for her constituents!

She's in it for the money...I don't believe she was ever in it for the people...

One term...net worth goes up...get a job with a republican lobbying firm...live in Mordor on the Potomac...

McConnell is a cunning and ruthless sociopath.

I believe he has full psych profiles on all sitting US senators.
And knows exactly what buttons to push to get his desired outcome.

Sinema was a no brainer because of her psych history.

IMO, the only two explanations are:

1) I agree, she has other plans already lined up.
2) She is legitimately completely delusional. If the rumors of her having presidential ambitions are true, then she's definitely in this camp.

Yes she has a number of really big red flags about her mental health.

In terms of her possible delusions, I am sure they exist because that is what McConnell and her rich donors are telling her.

That would have been one of the carrots dangled in front of her.
And she is crazy enough to believe it.

But nothing would surprise me, and they might try to pull that off for her.

Who are "they"? The Democratic party certainly isn't going to be in Sinema's camp if she gets a strong primary challenger, which let's face it, means any primary challenger.

No one in the party is going to stick their neck out to commit massive election fraud to keep her in power, because that's what it would take. If election fraud were a commonplace problem, and the logistical machinery for it was already in existence, even then coming back from such an underwater rating in your own party would be a stretch. But it is not, and it does not. It's simply not a reasonable option, it really doesn't rise even to the level of an unreasonable option.

10. There's no way she'd win as an independent either.

If she runs as an independent, it would just screw with the election, but she'd have zero chance of winning. Her polling is underwater by 65 points with Democrats, but she's also got a net negative rating with independents by nearly 40 points. Her only constituency is her base of wealthy donors, and there's not nearly enough votes there to win a primary or general election.

It's possible if she runs as an independent that she might draw more republican, or republican minded votes than Democratic leaning ones, but that's not a chance I'd invite if I had the choice. I just want her gone, as soon as it can be managed.
