Let's give President Obama what he needs and deserves!

A Congress that will work with, not against him!

President Obama has been the strongest proponent of peace, women's rights and equality that I have ever seen in my ripe old age of 55. 2014 is near. We really need to elect DEMOCRATS who share the President's vision. We can do this! Let's make our dreams our reality. Vote and get your friends/significant others/relatives to vote! Yes we can!

But...Obama is the strongest proponent of peace? Do you automatically filter any news that has Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Syria, Libya, or Snowden in it?

I agree, let us elect REAL democrats next year. Democrats who share a peaceful vision, not the MIC vision.

Certainly more than any Republican. We'd be in 10 wars by now.

Also, "This is a group, not a forum. Groups often serve as safe havens for members who share similar interests and viewpoints. Individuals who post messages contrary to a particular group's stated purpose can be excluded from posting in that group."

On this we do agree - "...let us elect REAL democrats next year. Democrats who share a peaceful vision..."

Yes, let's do it.

Obama is definitely NOT one of Breitbart's caricatures of a 'REAL Democrat, liberal or progressive' as portrayed in media and online. He's the only REAL Democrat left.

It remains to be seen if that will help the president or not. It will certainly help the progressive liberal cause.

to have all of the progressive voters in them in their efforts to control the others. If a DINO is in a now far more progressive district PRIMARY THE BUM OUT and help us put a more progressive Dem in to replace them. If the Dems have been obstructed in to being a minority, then at least let us have a more cohesive and strong progressive minority. And in those districts where Rethugs think they can win slim split districts, let's take them back whatever way possible.

But a far more progressive minority will show what Dems really stand for instead of the watered down crap that the DLC and the Third Way, etc. have pushed Democrats in to, and where progressive Dems have been silenced by them and a complicit corporate media so that the electorate feels lost on who really supports them. After the next election, even if we don't recapture congress,, we should recapture American voters' hearts for 2016 then.

22. Just because a district has been redistricted by Republicans doesn't mean it is "more conservative"
Sun Jul 28, 2013, 01:10 PM
Jul 2013

If you have 10 districts in a geographic area, and previously you had 3 Republican strong districts, 4 divided districts, and 3 leaning Democrat districts, and therefore maybe had 6 Democratic seats with at least 4 of them with DINOs in charge. Now if Republicans redistricted them to be 4 strong Republicans, 2 leaning Republicans, 1 divided district, and three strong Democratic seats, by pushing out the Democrats in to those three more solidly Democratic districts, would you continue to want a DINO rep in one of those three more stronger Democratic seats? WHY? The Republicans are giving you a gift, and you want to put DINOs in instead of more progressive politicians better able to serve those in them? Republicans may feel they've picked up a seat they didn't have before and made it harder for you to even use a DINO to get that sixth seat, but they've made some of your districts more left of center. You don't need a DINO to win those any more, and the Dems are better off with someone there that isn't DLCer but speaks more to the people (aka "far left" to some here), than to the corporate sponsors they've served in the past.

Barack Obama
A safe haven for members of Democratic Underground who support the president and his policies.

I didn't make the rules at the BOG, the administrators at DU did. If you have a problem with that you may take it up with them.

We deal with facts in this group not fiction...your post was debunked a long time ago.

Debunking the Myth: Obama's Two-Year Supermajority

snip

A supermajority is a filibuster-proof 60 or more Senate seats, allowing one party to pass legislation without votes from the other,

Don't forget: the president needed a supermajority because of the Republicans' unprecedented use of the filibuster as an obstruction tactic -- they've used it more than 400 times.

snip

In August, Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts died and the number went back down to 59 again until Paul Kirk temporarily filled Kennedy's seat in September.

Any pretense of a supermajority ended on February 4, 2010 when Republican Scott Brown was sworn into the seat Senator Kennedy once held.Do you see a two-year supermajority?

I didn't think so.

Obama SAVED the US Economy - Running Away From that Record Would be Suicidal in 2016

1. When the President had a remotely cooperative Congress, we passed a massive stimulus and jobs package that rescued this country from Soviet-style collapse.

2. This administration rescued the US automotive industry, saving hundreds of thousands if not millions of jobs, and restructured it to be competitive in the 21st century.

3. This administration invested so massively in this country's clean energy sector that it made us the world leader in these technologies, and made that sector one of the few consistent bright spots in job growth.

4. The lack of progress since then has been 100% the result of Republican obstruction in Congress since they took the House. There is no ambiguity on this point, it's just a fact.
