delivered more progressive results for the benefit of the American people than the GOP has. I think we all know what those have been (at least we oldsters do who remember what good we gained down through time). We have had our wars and struggles, right or wrong, sometimes even good has come out of war . I think of Japan who made startling social changes, the results of that war. Israel who managed to accomplish a country to call their own, etc.
Today I feel more hopeful. Time will tell whether some good will come out of this present struggle.
I'll shut up....Thanks for your post, Mr. Scorpio. Made me feel whole.

glad you stopped by. Don't expect it to be smooth sailing. PBO has to keep up the threat of a strike. He can't even say he will bow to the will of Congress.

Remember the Cuban Missile Crisis, but make it worse because we aren't united and people can't see the immediate threat. So PBO has to look like he's willing to go it alone, like a warmonger. Like he's almost crazy.

That's why he dragged it out so long. To give Assad and Putin and the UN time to get scared that he will do it. He can't back down now that they've just begun to talk about negotiating.

"putin saved Obama and Congress from further embarrassment" or so says Juan Cole of fox news and strutted on DU to show how brave putin is.

and "assad wouldn't dream of using chemical weapons on his own people" and Elizabeth Warren and all those in Congress who say they believe he did.. must be fools. According to assad protectors.

Now back to reality.. I agree with your assessment. PBO's a "warmonger". Cept, knowing what I know about him after all these years.. I knew he is no such thing.

It looks better. But still we have to wait and see. Neither Putin nor Assad can be trusted.

Oh, and did you know that there's a weird conspiracy theory going around saying that somehow PBO is hiring, training, funding and arming Al Qaeda, fronted by Saudi Arabia (whatever the hell that means) to do something having to do with Syria? (I have no clue what.) And that he's a PNAC Zionist.

I think it is important to say right here in the BOG that President Obama is not hiring, funding, training and arming AQ, fronted by Saudi Arabia to do anything with Syria or anywhere else. President Obama is not Al Qaeda. He is not a Muslim. He is not a Zionist. He is not PNAC. There. I said it.

President Obama uses complex diplomacy in the interests of the United States and its allies. The threat of the use of force is part of international negotiations now, just as it always has been. President Obama has used it to get Syria to stop using chemical weapons on its own civilian population when the UN could not act. We shall see how effective it will be with Congress folding far too soon IMHO.

There's a scene in Silver Streak that would make a great animated GIF right here at this very moment, but I couldn't find it online. I guess the oldies haven't been fully memed.
