With Republicans falling over themselves to hug Putin while aiding Assad in his messaging, and Putin following Republicans lead to take digs at American exceptionalism when Obama says it, its hard to know who the bad guys are these days.
So we get this from the New York Times: Obama: Weak or the anti-Bush?
Republicans et al are elevating Putin in order to tend their bitter Obama wounds; thus, because Putin had an op-ed on the NYT in which he swaggered a lot (remarkably like another dictator, Bush an accusation made by constitutional lawyers), Obama is weak. This is the conclusion of his usual detractors, and since many Republicans are saying it, its also become the takeaway and the trickle down beltway auto-looping narrative of the day.

..Suddenly Putin is on board, and Putin credits himself as do the Republicans. The media isnt far behind. All hail the mighty Putin, President of Democracy! Oh, wait. The Navalny verdict. http://www.forbes.com/sites/paulroderickgregory/2013/07/18/putin-declares-himself-dictator-with-the-navalny-verdict/
Oh well, this is the kind of guy Republicans, the media and even the far left can get behind. Hes a decider! He saved us all. Hes the good guy, not our own President.
Pssst: If you are so invested in hating Obama that you cant bring yourself to even question your growing allegiance to a known dictator, you are probably not thinking very clearly.
In Republican world, unless you kick the other person in the shin out of the blue, youre weak. Republicans go for the most obvious and least effective (foreign policy wise) display of power the bully, the cowboy, the gun, the smirk, the Mission Accomplished banner.

I'll just close with this little morsel from Sarah Jones..
"Thus, we are presented with a doofus decider preening for public acclaim and in the background, a President who just silently got what he wanted. Whos the smarter person?"

Using filings from the Justice Department, the non-profit ProPublica detailed last November how Ketchum helped place op-eds by "seemingly independent professionals" that praised Russia in outlets like CNBC and the Huffington Post, among others, without proper disclosure.
It is not unusual for a PR firm to work with a government. But Ketchum has been the subject of controversy not only in its work with Russia, but also with the U.S. government.
Ketchum was involved in high-profile controversies in 2004 and 2005. In both cases, the Government Accountability Office determined that Ketchum engaged in "covert propaganda" for the U.S. government.
In 2004, Ketchum produced prepackaged news stories featuring actors posing as journalists that touted Medicare changes under Bushs prescription drug benefit program, without disclosing government as the source. And in 2005, Ketchum again produced prepackaged news stories around the No Child Left Behind Act.

(1,135 posts)He always was one and will always be one. He can't help his sorry self to be much different. He will soon do something to obliterate all the good that the ass-ho's on the right are feeling warm and fuzzy about him at the moment and then blast him for it.
Who gives a fuck what they think??? Who can keep up with their inane rhetoric and hubris? They pander like the most obscene crack dealer, just to make a deal or point that benefits only them. We are no less than shit under their feet.
I'm am so angry and fed up over the past weeks of garbage here and elsewhere, including the MSNBC self-righteous, know-it-all pundits who jumped the shark about what Obama wanted to to do. As if they fucking knew!! Give me a break!
And then to claim it was their anti-war cries that changed his mind....!! What bullshit and underestimation of a man that they refuse to give little credit to. I guess they want him to fucking bleed all over them to get any satisfaction and to pacify their ugly egos.
The older I get, the less I like people. Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one, but should know better to keep them hidden. But few have the sense to do that.

(53,661 posts)When you consider the Koch family ties to Stalin and Mussolini and their desire to do the same to the USA.
The brothers came out in the open with Walker in Wisconsin, and made a star appearance at the 2012 GOP convention.
They showed their intent in full in Detroit with the slag pile there. They have threatened Obama since 2010 over the Keystone pipeline. These guys are not playing and they have the money and a long term strategy.
They all are the same authoritarian gang in different suits. Brothers in blood. Just sayin'

(53,661 posts)It is my own little wacked out idea, that religion and ideology are covers for something else.
We have learned that the fascist loving Koch family also worked with Stalin. Grandpa supported Mussolini openly. The GOP's Bush dynasty included Prescott, part of the 'business coup' to remove Roosevelt from office, detailed by Butler in the Congressional Record.
In my mind, look at the results. There is a lot of confusion. Nazis called themselves National Socialists. It didn't have the same meaning as today.
Mussolini was a fascist who believed in the merger of corporate and state power which he justified with religious overtones. Identical to today's GOP.
Stalin and Hiler, while claiming to be populists, used the private sector who got rich from their contracts. Those firms that worked with Hitler endured, he didn't.
Stalin was a communist, but wasn't above playing footsie with capitalists to further his aims. Putin is no communist, socialist or fascist in classic terms.
And I dare say, not even an authoritarian. He's a wheeler-dealer.
If the GOP was operating in another country, they might go either way, so long as their masters got their money and the people fell for it. Okay, I have an evil mind.

Totally brilliant and she said it better than I could ever even try to, about his masterful leadership.
I have no doubt that with anyone else in the WH, they would have caved and we would now be at war with Syria, if not Russia as well. What a nightmare we escaped. Thank God, our POTUS is not a raving idealist, but a pragmatic person who knows when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em...................
