Barack Obama
Related: About this forumI was thinking of doing an Obama quotes arty book for the BOG...
and would like some input and suggestions from you good people here.
His term end is a ways off but I thought I could start something and can add to it and officially publish it here as a .pdf end of 2016 for anyone who would want to print it out. Or sooner because I can always add more. Thinking it would be about 20 pages which would be 10ish quotes and 10ish photos to go along with it, but that can change easily enough to more as there is quite the treasure trove of goodies in that area.
I would also like to add our names from the Barack Obama Group on the last page for those who are willing to have it there.
Idea so far is to have the quote with detail of which speech it was from and what date. Have one side of the reader flat with the quote and maybe a graphic here and there and on the facing page a photo. It could be quotes or short news stories of major events during his term.
I'll do a mock up of a couple pages in the next while, week or so.
What you tink?

(39,215 posts)quotes available with any of the pictures that would be great. He has a chemistry with the little ones that is a delight to see. Even if you do not have quotes, intersperse the children with him throughout the book.

(24,096 posts)the President has spoken about children many times so that should be easy for me to find.
Thanks!

(87,324 posts)just ask.
I have a pic of him returning from Sandy Hook. I did an OP. It was raining and so painfully sad. I will look for it if you want it.
However not tonight. Gotta go~

(6,151 posts)they demonize him. That picture more than any other shows the soul cry. It's one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen. To imagine this man has anything other than the most noble intentions is crazy beyond comprehension.

(305,207 posts)and talented!
Will post when I come across something I'd like to add to the mix.. there's gotta be a million or More!
That's going to be so fantastic for the BOG!

(6,151 posts)Not that I deserve it in any way, but I'd be delighted to see my name listed as a BOG member.
One request re pix: The head shot where he's standing in the rain; one poster remarked that it looked as if he was about to drop Album of the Year. That was the best description I read. If you don't know which one I mean, I could get it off my archive flash drive for you.
PS: It's not either of the two above. The one I mean was just Joe Cool to the max.

Only this minute did I remember the awful way one of the Repukes referred to President Obama himself as 'that one'. But I know everyone knows I meant the picture. Odd what dredges up old memories, isn't it? I hadn't thought about it for so long. Unfortunately sometimes I have a memory like a (yikes!)... elephant.
Seguing right along, this Sunday I plan to wear my elephant-print wraparound fisherman pants to church. If anyone remarks on the print, pray that I don't spout off about how much I love sitting on elephants! Actually, these are clearly Asian and I don't suspect them of being tainted with American politics at all.
The lady I most like to sit with during service is sweet, very old, nearly blind, and quite deaf. She's the one who was standing next to me in line at a carry-in and brought the entire noisy room to an awkward silence after she boomed: "ARE YOU THE LADY WHO WRITES THOSE LETTERS IN THE PAPER?? I LOVE 'EM BUT MY SON HAS TO READ THEM OUT LOUD FOR ME BECAUSE I CAN'T SEE." By some miracle I managed not to cackle and rofl; she might've taken it wrong. I was just so delighted at the way she brought the whole room to a screeching halt. Her poor son, arch conservative that he is like the rest, stood there frustrated but at least smart enough not to intrude on the moment. One of my favorite occasions in life, and I was (almost) completely innocent. I just smiled and said, "Yes, ma'am, guilty as charged!"
(I'll try to remember not to tell this story again for a lonnnnng time.)

(6,151 posts)here's the url to another fine candidate for the book:
It shows the Prez leaning back in his chair with his feet on the desk, taking a phone call with a big grin on his face.
Dialogue runs something like this:
"Yea, bagged another terrorist......... Yea, Republicans mad...."
.................................................................
Hey, I didn't know the url would print the picture off FB. Neat!
