President Obama Taunts Boehner: 'So Sue Me!'

Last edited Wed Jul 2, 2014, 12:35 AM - Edit history (1)

Published on Jul 1, 2014

On Tuesday afternoon, President Barack Obama continued his streak of railing against Republican "obstructionism" in Congress, taunting the rival party for "doing nothing" while threatening legal action against the president to curb executive authority.

Speaking near the Key Bridge in Washington, D.C., Obama implored Congress to continue funding for the Federal Highway Trust Fund, and suggested that the political system is currently rigged in favor of those who aren't in need, by those lawmakers who refuse to take action.

With the Key Bridge, linking Washington and Northern Virginia in the background, President Barack Obama speaks about the economy and transportation, at Georgetown Waterfront Park in Washington. The President said 700,000 jobs could be at risk next year if Congress doesn’t quickly agree on how to pay for highway and transit programs.

It was a wonderful speech, and he sure did taunt Boehner!

President Obama Turns Up The Heat and Is Daring John Boehner To Sue Him

Boehner’s lawsuit has the potential to change the 2014 election. Republicans thought that they were going to be able to run on the idea that President Obama is a tyrant whose power must be checked, but the threat of the lawsuit has caused millions of voters who might have been content to sleep through 2014 to wake up and pay attention.

President Obama and the Democrats are not only welcoming this attention. They are encouraging Republicans to give them more. The reality is that President Obama doesn’t have much of a choice. Since Republicans have brought Congress to a halt, he has to act where he legally can in order to get things done.

Make no mistake about it. Democrats want Boehner to file this lawsuit, and Obama’s actions over the last two days are an attempt to push the Speaker into doing something that he might not want to do. Between the pressure from the right, and the White House, Boehner has painted himself into a corner.

Obama knows the game and knows how to play it well. All we need to do is get to the polls and vote as if our life depended upon it!

You are right, in a way he is. He committed to another 4 years, and there is no way in hell that he is going to stop before his term is over.

He does indeed have miles to go before he sleeps. He made promises and is doing his best to keep them, please please please. I don't pray, yet let's get a Congress in 2014 that will work with this President. If we do we will be unchained and we will fly!

You want to hear something stupid? My ex and I were in our 20's at White Sands; our house was on the perimeter, so we'd sit on the back patio many evenings just to watch the terrific storms that really weren't all that far away. Now in my late 60's I wonder if we weren't playing chicken with each other. Of course the beer probably made a difference too.

He was a professional photographer among other things, and once in the mountains I scooted out on the narrow ledge of a nearly vertical boulder with a drop of several hundred feet. My toes extended over the side, the ledge was that narrow. STUPID BEYOND COMPARE, but it made a dandy picture. Looking back now, I wonder if I wasn't also trying to convince him that he'd never be able to scare me, because he certainly tried his damnedest.

I'm absolutely certain that's one of many reasons I like President Obama so much, though; he's so unlike my ex.

Yes the beer may have been a factor.

Happy 4th Irish and thanks for thinking of us. I worry about NJ and NY.

I also posted an edit on my reply, in case you missed the second crazy story. I learned to loathe my ex, but I have to admit I developed certain survival skills due to his influence. At least I'll keep blaming him until a better excuse comes along for why I am the way I am. If I ever decide it's good, I'll be sure to take credit.

Every once in awhile I watch video or tv with the sound off - it's how I learned a lot - and this turned out to be a great opportunity. Everyone ought to watch it that way at least once before turning the sound on. We should know what his voice sounds like by now anyway, right? Good way to study lip reading too. OK, so sometimes my idea of entertainment doesn't always match the most popular; but I wish everyone would try that at least once. It teaches close observation too. Handy for spies, detectives, and entertainers.

Now I'm ready to turn the sound on. Thank you again.
