I do have three issues.
I am not willing to reveal them at this time. But I believe he needs our honest and heartfelt feedback, moving forward.
Now I have to go take care of my god children.
Tomorrow is the last day of my voter registration drive.
I will get back to the previous topic, if you would like.
Thanks again for your posts and your steadfast commitment.

Sometimes after I drink hot chocolate, I have sweet dreams of Kerry being the next President, too.
But, that day passed him by a long time ago.
I guess, he'll just have to live with being one of the best Senators this country has ever had.
And one of the best Secretaries of State we have ever had.
Tough gig, but somebody had to do it.

(6,151 posts)Sorry to say it's probably too late for Bernie Sanders to be president too; not only his age, but also the fact that he's from such a small state with relatively few electoral college votes. Bless his heart, though; wasn't he the one who suggested a Clinton/Warren ticket just this last week? It was one of our majors, anyway. I'd love to see such a ticket, and '16 might be the very year for two women. Of course I want one of the Castro brothers to run someday too, especially Joaquin, because he'd pull in Texas.

(31,849 posts)President Obama CAN get up everyday and do his job, regardless, because he realizes that his job is not about him. A man of smaller ego, would take the insults, the slights, the straight a$$holishness of the right and the left, personally. But thank the Universe, that's not this man.
Tarheel_Dem
(31,443 posts)after him with the same vitriol of some of the more "a$$holish" right. I don't even know what they stand for anymore. Certain corners of "the left" have begun to sound like what I imagine a Ralph Nader/Pat Buchanan lovechild might be. It's absolutely freakish.

(31,849 posts)that's quite the lovechild picture!
But for posterity ...
could be heard whispered throughout the land. (It seems)
GOP: "Government doesn't work" ... Check!
Libertarians (right and left): "Government is evil" ... Check!
Tea Party: "Government doesn't work and there is no difference between establishment republicans and establishment Democrats" ... Check!
"Liberals/Progressives": "Government is evil and there is no difference between establishment republicans and establishment Democrats" ... Check!
The media has played this narrative on a 7-day, 24-hour loop.
Result: Only 15% of the American people pay close attention to the only mechanism for change.
Nicely played, Oligarchs!

(31,849 posts)I noticed a near perfect over-lap of that segment of DU that routinely post pro-Sanders/Warren posts and/or anti-HRC posts, that say very little about Sanders/Warren and spend most of the post criticizing HRC for what she will do; and those, arguing/recing posts arguing it's not enough to vote against something ... people need something to vote FOR. (And vice-a-versa)
I wonder which position they don't believe?

(6,151 posts)Vocational hazard, I guess. At least I can still read w/o pain. And the pain lessens a great deal with a little rest. I know the problem's not due to poor hand placement because I studied piano too many years and know how to position for that. Technique is key. But sometimes at a certain age after so much, you just have to give it a rest for awhile.
Maybe someday I'll have to take up Dragonly Speaking.
Major Hogwash
(17,656 posts)Well, go ahead and read, you are a great person, and you have done a great job at DU getting everyone else's back.
So, take it easy and recuperate and learn to speak like a dragon in the meantime.
I don't know why anyone would want to do that, because I don't know if there is a lot of demand for that sort of thing, but go ahead and take it up.

For some reason most of my symptoms have abated, meaning it probably hasn't gone far enough for surgery - yet. Another person also suggested that I get a glove to wear at night to keep my fingers from curling under as I sleep. Said it helped her.

(87,336 posts)I do believe that we will see some much needed change on election day.
I for one am not listening to the polls or the doom and gloom media. Nope, not me. We seem to have a huge influx of new posters here that are spreading the same crap less than 30 days out from the elections, hmmm why might that be, is the GOP running scared!?
HOPE and CHANGE comes with voting and not stepping away from the plate when the election is over.
Thank you!

(9,654 posts)Joni Ernst did her Dem opponent (Bruce Braley - which I had to look up) a favor by not demanding an increase in minimum wage. Now the trick is to get Democrat Braley to drive that point home and to the polls.

(17,656 posts)That last picture with Bush and President Obama says it all . . one was playing President, while the other one, Obama, is actually BEING the President.
Remember clear back to 1978 when people running for high office didn't criticize the foreign policy that the current President was employing in some far off country after the Vietnam War was over?
And then former Governor Reagan lambasted President Carter for his policy regarding the American hostages that were held in Iran in 1980.
Years before that, when the Vietnam War was raging non-stop, Reagan had said that criticism should end at the water's edge of our shores.
Nevertheless, every single one of those American hostages wound up being released and returned to American soil . . physically unharmed.
Sometimes, when people discuss the Iran Hostage situation, they tend to forget that very important, underlying fact.
And remember how people said you were a traitor if you didn't support the President when he started the Iraq War after Bush began his invasion of Iraq with his completely stupid "Shock and Awe" bombing campaign?
I watched some of the tv news reports that night, and I wound up sobbng to myself because I knew it was the biggest mistake that Bush would ever make in his time in the White House.
Which is why I worked so hard in 2004 to get him out of the White House and get John Kerry elected President.
And then I worked my ass off in 2008 to get President Obama elected to be our President, just as much for the policies he stood for, but also to keep McCain out of the White House to prevent McCain from carrying with a 3rd Bush term totally unhindered, concerning foreign policy.
And I worked hard in 2012 to keep President Obama in the White House in order to keep the policies in place and keep the agenda that Obama had started going, as much I did to keep Romney out of the White House to prevent him from doing gawd knows what.
Now that 2014 is upon us, and some people are already voting for the mid-term election in some areas of our great nation, I want to take a moment to thank everyone else for working so hard to get President Obama elected in the first place, and for keeping President Obama in the White House.
It has been a struggle, to be sure.
But, it has been a magnificent 6 years.
So much has been done already.
And yet, there is so much more to do.
The struggle continues.
Don't ever give up hope.
sheshe2
(87,336 posts)Yes I too remember we were told not to disrespect our wartime President Bush. The news media (useless as they are) never called Bush out. They stopped reporting news at all. They carried Bushco water.
I stopped watching CNN years ago because of their endless 24/7 reporting of first Chandra Levy disappearance in 2001 then Natalee Holloway 2005. I remember being frustrated every time I turned on the TV to get news! These days I depend on my computer for news I have barely turned on the TV in the past few years.
I commend you on all the work that you have done to get Dems elected and especially Obama, twice. You are far more active than I have been. Thank you for that Major.
No, I am not giving up hope for 2014 nor am I listening to any of the polls. We have a tight race for Governor here and I am holding out for a win. GOTV 2014!
You are so correct when you say it has been a magnificent 6 years.

Lol~ I am the one known for asking for every debate night off and in 2008 and 2012 election, I always asked for a few vacation days especially for the days after so I could savor the win. Yes I knew he was going to do it both times. No, I never said it out loud, did not want to jinx it, yet call it intuition, I damn well knew it.
Ya you can laugh and call me crazy~ that's okay.
I am less sure of 2014...yet I have vibes and the GOP are sure as hell are not going to make the inroads that they believe they are.
