You must have seen me fighting my way through Ellison's first thread where he was asking for signatures for the petition. It took me days to decide to sign the thing myself, but I kept trying to explain to people, and nobody -- I mean nobody -- wanted to hear that there were real human beings with real human being issues at stake. Oh wait, there was one guy.

There are days I just want to give up on this place; it seems so bloody useless to try to engage. >sigh< No, this isn't a GBCW...

...that not only am I not a scientist (that's fairly obvious anyway) but my graduate degree is in Mythological Studies. To say that I have a divergent point of view from most people is an understatement.

about that, huh. It would interfere with the various narratives going on about who is superior to who. Which will always be the 1% folks, that some claim to hate, yet they carry their water for them.

Those who jumped in with all fours hadn't looked at the links showing the destruction of the lake, anything about the mercury spills already occuring from the existing station, and the environmental effects. I mean, there really are environmetnal scientists, gee whiz.

But mustn't let them get in the way of the new shiny thing most people had never even heard about before the first thread. The internet is turning into somewhat of a disappointment. Or maybe the people who pontificate on it are what's disappointing.

I'm willing to support Hillary and will love having a female president (especially bill as FLOTUS, lol) but President Obama is a tough act to follow. There's nobody like President Obama. I plan on enjoying every minute of the 22 months or so we have left. I'll probably be more interested in what he is doing post-Presidency than in the current president, even if it's a Democrat. He is just such a great guy. We are so lucky.

3. I love the look on the people's faces; they are genuinely glad to see the Obamas there.

He's my hero, too -- best president in my 67 years. Jack Kennedy might have made it, for his time and place, but he just didn't have enough time. I'm not ashamed to say I pray for the whole Obama family, such dangerous times we do live in.

Well, I'll dredge up a few more. This brought the tears, not too unusual of late for several reasons, but let me say this: As I edge closer to my 80th year on this old Earth (yes, I clearly recall the day JFK was taken from us--talk about tears!), I am truly grateful that I was privileged to have Barack Obama as my president. He and his extraordinary wife have made this a better place for having been here, and I shall be eternally grateful.

Thanks again for this beautiful post, and may you be as blessed as you are a blessing to your fellow DUers.

Yes, it makes me tear up a bit myself. We have had grace and beauty with this President and his family. He thinks long and hard before he speaks or takes action. That in itself is change that I can believe in.

I love how other countries love the POTUS - I wish this one had more people like that, but he seems especially to be beloved of leaders of other countries. Modi was so thrilled to see him.
