Barack Obama
Related: About this forumThe days are getting shorter, and sunset comes earlier, so it's harder to knock
a lot of doors between the time folk get home from work and the time it gets dark. I'm pushing myself harder to make use of the reddish or greyish twilight
But this evening, it's working. People talk to me as the day dims. Their neighbors see us chatting, and so they chat too
I get invited into houses. People fill out registration forms, and I give them information about voting
Afterwards I glance through the pages of tick marks on my walk list. Address after address records failure: this apartment is unoccupied, that person was not home, this person has moved, that person refused to talk to me
But that's not the true story
Yes, that person moved, but I registered the new occupant: she's voting for Obama, and now she knows where and when to vote
Or here, where nobody answered my knocks, I still had success (and fun!) working the parking lot
And I've got a handful of fresh paperwork to show how productive it really was
