Who here is just savoring the fact that the President Won

A Second Term?

I see lots of post ALREADY looking forward to 2016 and who or who will not be running. I'm thinking - folks - that's great you are so ahead here. . .

But how about we not only let President Obama finish out his first term - then START his SECOND term - and get into the thick of it before we move onto the next shiny thing.

We have a lot of hard work to do as liberals and progressives to both support this President and put pressure on him to stay to the left of center . . . that said - who else is fired up and ready to go for four more years and not really giving two hoots or a holler about 2016 this fine Wednesday - November 7th!?!

I am savoring the moment right now and thanking the gods that we don't have to face four years of a Mitt Rmoney presidency.

It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.

Yes we can.

It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.

Yes we can. Yes we can.

It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.

Yes we can. Yes we can.

It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountain-top and pointed the way to the Promised Land.

Yes we can to justice and equality.(yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...)

Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity. Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.
Yes we can heal this nation.
Yes we can repair this world.
Yes we can. Si Se Puede
(yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...)

We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.

We want change!
(We want change! We want change! We want change...)

We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics who will only grow louder and more dissonant.
We've been asked to pause for a reality check.
We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.
But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope. We want change!
(We want change! I want change! We want change! I want change...)

The hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA;
we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests;

that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in America's story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea - Yes. We. Can.(yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...)

I feel elated and very relieved. So happy that the war on women obviously backfired on them and single women like my daughter (an Obama volunteer - yes!) supported Obama overwhelmingly. I've been getting phone calls, e-mails and text messages all day from others who are sooooo happy that we won't have 4 years of Romney! Yes, my friends and I are savoring this moment. I have confidence that President Obama will remain left of center and push a progressive agenda for the next 4 years. I absolutely loved the shirts my daughter and her friends were wearing when they came over last night - "OBAMA 2012 - Get Used To It."

Thanks to everyone here at the BOG who has kept our spirits up and kept us informed throughout this election.

I am not interested in hearing about 2016 or even the fiscal cliff right now. I just want to enjoy knowing that Romney was stopped and Pres. Obama gets to continue getting this country on the right track.

I just saw some great videos too (for any rap fans):
