A letter to my congressman
The Constitution of the United States of America states, “No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatsoever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State. This is known as the Emoluments clause. This means that Mr. Trump, through his many private, personal and interconnected LLCs, is guilty of impeachable offences the moment he takes the oath of office. The only valid, legal paths are complete divestiture prior to inauguration or impeachment. In addition, the multiple conflicts of interest that Mr. Trump has set up due to his style of corporate structure and governance further disqualifies him as president of this country. An example of just one of his many conflicts is the lease of the U.S. Post Office building by the GSA (Government Services Administration) to Mr. Trump for his new hotel in Washington, D.C. It must be voided at the moment of inauguration, or else there is no longer rule of law in this country. As to the argument that Mr. Trump will suffer financial loss is of no concern. He knew the price of seeking our nation’s highest office. He must bear personal responsibility one way or another, that is, stay in office after immediate and complete divestiture or be impeached, convicted, and forced from office.
Where do you stand? Are you to follow the rule of law or do you and your party support kleptocracy? This is a binary decision. There is no other way. As a veteran, my oath of office, like yours when you were sworn into Congress, was to the Constitution of the United States of America, not some person. As a citizen and constituent, I have the absolute right to know. Where do you Stand?
My congress critter is Steven Palazzo (MS-4: R, of course). I'm going to go out on a limb and bet he's with Trump and Co. Any takers? LOL!
