"The Senate held several procedural votes Thursday on the Supreme Court nomination of Neil M. Gorsuch. Democrats filibustered the nomination, and Republicans changed Senate rules to bypass the filibuster, approving the so-called nuclear option.

Republicans then voted to end debate, setting up a final confirmation vote as early as Friday evening."
