Seditious Republicans Spend Paid Vacation Instigating Rebellion Among Military Generals

Tea Party Republican Congressman Doug Lamborn of Colorado is spending his seven week paid vacation “behind the scenes” urging military generals to resign in protest of President Obama’s policies.

This is very different from Allan West’s attempt to instigate a military rebellion via Facebook, as reported by Justin Baragona on Friday. True, West and Lamborn rely on Tea Party mythology to rally dissent within the military. However, as a former one-term Congressman, West is reduced to making his case on Facebook. Lamborn is a sitting Congressman and a member of the House Armed Services Committee with all the power that comes with those positions. He is also trying to incite rebellion at the highest levels of the military.

According to Cory Hutchins of Main.com, Lamborn admitted that he and unnamed others are asking Generals to quit the military during a meeting with 50 Tea Party supporters in a bar basement on Tuesday night.

~snip~

Republican members of Congress chose to run away for a seven-week paid vacation. Some of the Koch Brothers’ men chose to “debate” policy on ISIS at the clown car summit (aka The “Values” Summit”) because it’s much easier to complain and criticize on the sidelines instead of taking responsibility by debating and voting one way or another in Congress.

You can't PERMANENTLY make them go away before they've had a fair trial, but you can put them into kind of a limbo...and the reason is simple: to keep them from trashing the place. This is why they escort you out of the building when you get fired in civilian life.

I think high ranking officers in the armed forces - should be conserding doing their job - not playing politic - if they want to play politic - then leave the rank of officers - and be a full time politic an - not blend both ways - I guess it is a long time since Truman stated that the only colour he cared for in the armed forces was the olive green brand - when he de-segregated the armed forces in the 1950s - because it was the logic way of doing it - and many men of color had serving their country with distention and honor....

People who want to start dissent inside the rank of the armed forces - should be very careful - as the way from dissent - to a trial for sedition or treason is a very short one - and I suspect mr Lamborn from Colorado have overstepped it boundaries - when he want generals to quit their service because they do not like the president who are in sharge....

If I was Obama - I would do as Kennedy did when generals was rebelling his rule in early 1960s - specially under the Cuba crisis - he accepted their resignations from duty and more or less fired them on the spot - repleasing them with others who was less troublesome - and who might not as Gun-ho as some was... That cooled their head somehow - that the US president fired some Generals on the spot..

Im not sure how things work in US when it come to generals medling in the sivilian government - but in Norway - the officers are 100 percent under control of the sivilian government - and have no political control at all.. It all goes back to the years between the wars (ww1 and ww2) where the officers indeed had some political clout - and also was afraid of the labour movement - who was going from strengt to strengt in the 1920s - and who in 1933 - was elected into office - from then to 1940 - the officers was troublesome - and problematic - and have no love for the labour party at all - in fact many was more afraid of their soldiers than against the germans who in 1940 attaced norway - and keept it for 5 years - after ww2 - all branches of the armed forces was re-constructed - and put under strict sivilian rule - and have been that since....

It is maybe time for the current US administration to do the same to the armed forces in the US - put the control where it belong - under sivilian rule... And put the generals in their place..

General McChrystal was canned for dissing politicians ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_A._McChrystal ).

Next up: General Petraeus

Petraeus was doing well as CIA Director until infidelity got in the way:

Extramarital affair and resignation
Main article: Petraeus scandal

David Petraeus and Paula Broadwell in July 2011

According to Petraeus associate Steven A. Boylan, Petraeus began an affair with Paula Broadwell, principal author of his biography, All In: The Education of General David Petraeus, in late 2011 when he was no longer an active duty military officer. Petraeus reportedly ended the affair in the summer of 2012, around the time that he learned that Broadwell had been sending harassing emails to a longstanding family friend of the Petraeuses, Jill Kelley.[176]

Kelley, a Florida socialite who frequently entertained senior military personnel at her and her husband's Tampa mansion,[177] had approached an acquaintance who worked for the FBI Tampa Field Office in the late spring with regard to anonymous emails she considered threatening.[176] The Bureau traced the emails to Broadwell, and noted that Broadwell appeared to be exchanging intimate messages with an email account belonging to Petraeus, which instigated an investigation into whether that account had been hacked into or was someone posing as Petraeus.[178][179][180] According to an Associated Press report, rather than transmit emails to each other's inbox, which would have left a more obvious email trail, Petraeus and Broadwell left messages in a draft folder and the draft messages were then read by the other person when they logged into the same account.[181]

Although US Attorney General Eric Holder was aware that the FBI had discovered the affair,[182] it was not until November 6, 2012, that Petraeus's nominal superior, Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper, was advised. That same evening Clapper called Petraeus and urged him to resign. Clapper notified the White House the next day, November 7. After being briefed on November 8, President Obama summoned Petraeus to the White House where Petraeus offered his resignation.[183] Obama accepted his resignation on November 9,[184][185] and Petraeus cited his affair when announcing that same day that he would resign as CIA Director.[186]

The US Constitution places command of the military firmly and directly under civilian control; the President is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. It's been that way in the US since the implementation of our Constitution on March 4, 1789. Our founders were very aware of the potential for the military to take power, and took careful steps to prevent such an event.

if not actually crosses the line, the only remedy is for Congress to respond. Censure, boot him off his committee, or expel him.

Think about who would be responsible for arresting him and ask yourself what kind of precedent that would set. You would have the Executive Branch (which runs the DOJ) arresting a member of the Legislative Branch. The day that happens, you can stick a fork in us, because we would be nothing more than just another banana republic.

What I want to know is what were the generals doing in a 'bar basement' with 50 Tea Party radicals? If they were in uniform, then Obama would have a perfect right to fire them on the spot.

I'm betting there are enough sensible Generals who take their oath
seriously to not engage in open rebellion against their Commander In Chief.

Also I trust they will not necessarily be quiet about it either.

Never-the-less, this is more than a little creepy, esp. given the recent revelations
about chronic Secret Service lapses and security breaches.

The greatest threat to our nation for the past 80 years has been the god dammed Republican party . They were the cause of the great depression, and fought against any relief and programs that FDR wanted to do. When Hitler rose to power they fought FDR in his efforts to aid Britain, some even advocated letting Hitler take Europe over and then making peace with him. These Koch roaches have not changed, they have only become more powerful since Reagan and the Bush years.

Any general who would resign for this fuck is not someone we want in the military anyway.

Let this guy talk bush-era lackies into quitting, and we can promote real generals into their place.
