Democracy for America
Related: About this forumIt is becoming clear that "We The People" are not going to survive this so called "presidency."
I do not advocate revolution. I do advocate survival.
Any fucking suggestions?
How do we survive this shit?

(6 posts)I live around LA and have done so since first moving to the country more than 21 years ago. As I look at the local situation when it comes to housing affordability, I've strongly contemplated moving to another city in the US. If I want to move to another democratically run city or state, I can do so by moving up the coast or some other cities in the Midwest or Northeast. But, rather than do that, I plan on moving to a state that is either purple or turning purple. This helps to whittle down the list of states to just a few that I wouldn't mind moving to in order of my personal preference:
- North Carolina
- Texas
- Arizona
- Florida
- Wisconsin
If and when I do move to one of these states, I plan to do so in a district that is purple as well. I know I'll just be one vote, but when I do move there I'll be a lot more politically engaged in the local politics to help elect democrats. I urge others to consider doing the same. Leave the democratic havens and start turning the rest of the country purple. Donald Trump lost California by 3 million votes in 2016. If even 1 million of those voters were living throughout these other 4 states, the outcome of that election would be very different.

(6 posts)I'd say my preference is definitely towards North Carolina since it's not as hot as Arizona or Texas can be. All liberals moving to a liberal haven means the Senate and the presidency are essentially given to the Republicans.

(6 posts)It's too late to move this election cycle, but I'll be holding off my move until the new redistricting and move to a purple district or slightly red district.
