Hillary Clinton

on Tuesday, HRC only needs 35% to clinch with PLEDGED delegate majority as well. It's unfortunate that it is required of her by her opposition, where it hasn't been the last several cycles, where the SDs pushed the number over.
He can't catch her. It is mathematically impossible. This bullshit about a "contested convention" is just that, bullshit.

He's too arrogant to give a hoot what Dems think of him . He has never cared.

(1,941 posts)I think this highlights how absurd the Sanders campaign is. You said:
Hillary will finish Tuesday with a pledged delegate majority.
But what Bernie is actually demanding is that she reach 2383 with pledged delegates alone. The "magic number" of 2383 is a majority (50%+1) of all delegates, including supers. So in other words, the #berniemath is that Hillary must include all delegates (pledged+super) in the denominator, but based on #berniemath, Hillary is not allowed to include supers in the numerator until the convention. Fortunately, the DNC doesn't follow #berniemath.

(5,123 posts)I just didn't type out the NUMBERS.
To win the majority in pledged delegates, she has to be at 2026. She'll easily have that by the end of Tuesday. She's WELL ahead in the popular vote, and she has a wipeout in SDs.
She'll win on ALL counts.
He has no path. He hasn't had one.

(1,941 posts)But your post makes it sound like it is uncommon for a candidate to be required to finish with a pledged majority...when it is in fact common. What's uncommon is for a candidate to reach a delegate majority only using pledged delegates.

(1,941 posts)In my opinion, it just didn't read that way. I'm not trying to argue though.
It read like you are saying that Bernie is requiring she clinch with a pledged delegate majority...but that's not what he is demanding. He is saying she should clinch a delegate majority (super+pledged) using ONLY pledged delegates....which is damn near impossible. I don't know if anyone running has ever done that....except those running unopposed.
#berniemath.

(2,542 posts)victory based on pledged delegates alone is something they pulled out of their asses when it became clear that he was going to be the loser. 2383 is the 50.1% from a number that includes super-delegates. They don't just get to change the rules and say it has to be reached with pledged alone, certainly not when their failed candidate couldn't reach that number on his best day. Sanders himself needs more than 100% of remaining delegates to clinch by his own standard. It's a bullshit argument, and one I'm tired of hearing about.

(1,630 posts)except when they can be used in his favor. I once thought of him a paragon of ethics but as this election has gone on, he has revealed a much less admirable side to his personality. Not only is he extremely negative towards everyone but his sycophants but incredibly manipulative about the rules. Apparently he is fine with caucuses, non Democratic voters and super delegates overturning the will of the people. Not surprised he wants a whole new metric for "winning". That to me is the worst of politics as usual and not someone who is working to change the system. What a fraud.
