I remember when her name was brought up constantly in 2008, when Obama was attempting to become the first black Democratic nominee and Hillary the first woman.

She was a true pioneer in her run for the NY Congressional seat in 1968 as well. But yeah, the first major-party black candidate, that's really impressive , especially at that time.
