There are several good reasons why presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton might want to choose Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) as her running mate.
Warren is a forceful critic of Republican candidate Donald Trump. As the architect of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Warren helps insulate Clinton from charges that she is too close to Wall Street. And Warren is popular with many liberal Democrats that Clinton may want to build bridges towards in the wake of a bruising primary against Sen. Bernie Sanders.

(5,737 posts)Her voice can become even more powerful. Although with a 50/50 split in the Senate, she would have the tie breaker vote.

(521 posts)The same age as Sanders is this year, and most people think that's too old. Our oldest president ever was Ronald Reagan, who first took office two weeks before his 70th birthday and left office two weeks before his 78th birthday.

(16,104 posts)Elizabeth Warren is a rock star!
In this 'age of celebrity' no one else could light up the Democratic presidential campaign like Senator Warren!

(28,270 posts)That's true I guess.
The press would eat it up I bet and she would continue to take Trump to the woodshed.

(15,438 posts)are hoping for and lobbying for EW to be on Hillary Clinton's ticket. The thing is, the two women don't really get along, and her fence-sitting on endorsing Hillary would anger a lot of voting Dems who've been with Hillary from the get-go. Also, two women on the ticket is not going to work in our favor. I'm not trying to be sexist here (god knows I would LOVE to have a two women ticket!), but we've got to face reality that this country is still too male-centric and far from ready for an all-woman presidential ticket.

(2,798 posts)If the top of the ticket is strong, down-ticket Senate races will follow. Losing Warren could be offset by Democrats achieving an even greater majority in the Senate.

(70,183 posts)We need to start grooming younger Democrats for the future. Plus, we need Warren in the senate. IMO, she's more effective there.
