White House: No Obama-Clinton meeting Wednesday

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/06/barack-obama-hillary-clinton-meeting-224002

President Barack Obama's scheduled fundraisers in New York on Wednesday should not be interpreted as Obama's first steps on the campaign trail for Hillary Clinton, the White House said Tuesday.

Obama has no plans to meet with the presumptive Democratic nominee during planned fundraising events for the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters.

“These fundraisers have been on the books for quite some time, and I don’t believe that most people believed that the Democratic nomination would continue to be contested into the first week in June," Earnest said. "So I can tell you that the president does not expect to see or meet or appear with Secretary Clinton when he’s in New York tomorrow.”

Obama is said to have spoken on the phone with Bernie Sanders last weekend, before The Associated Press and other news outlets announced Monday evening that she had crossed the threshold of the 2,383 delegates necessary to secure the Democratic nomination.
