Every four years, summer brings with it a popular parlor-game among even the most casual political observers. Who will the presidential nominee(s) pick as their running mate?

Here's a look at the candidates Hillary Clinton could pick to be her second-in-command.

4. It would be both unconstitutional and illegal to pick Bill Clinton

Unconstitutionality first.
From the 12th Amendment: But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States. Bill Clinton already served two full terms, so he's term limited out.

Illegality? There is an antinepotism statute that will also prevent her from naming Bill to any paid position in the Administration.

I like the idea and wish we could, but we can't.

So technically Pres Bill Clinton still has 2 years left!

13. "Constitutionally ineligible" refers to 35 years, natural-born citizen, and 14 years residency.

The 22nd Amendment only refers to being elected president more than twice. (This has not been legally tested, obviously; but there are strong arguments both ways.)

A federal law couldn't change eligibility for a constitutionally established office.

It won't happen anyways -- even though it's fun to think about.

5. How about Howard Schultz of Starbucks or Larry Page of Google?

Having a successful businessman on the ticket will help to blunt the short-fingered vulgarian's claim we should elect him because he's a businessman.

11. Larry Page's company is at the top of that list

I don't want someone who runs a purely retail operation. Google is a tech company and Starbucks has a large manufacturing arm. I'd really like Tim Cook of Apple - but he's too shy to be comfortable in a position where you have to mingle as much as a vice-president does.

10. I'm sticking with Hickenlooper

One of his aides just went to work with the Hillary Campaign. The guy is sharp and doesn't carry any baggage. Plus, he'd be an asset for carrying his swing state.
