"The poll found that more than half of Sanders backers are planning to support Clinton, with 22 percent leaning toward Trump and 11 percent to Johnson"

My theory is that Sanders voters believe that nonsense about the race being fixed and they want to get even.

REASON FOR ALERT

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

Calling Senator Sanders a fake Democrat is over the top, Skinner said for all intents an purposes Bernie ran as a Democrat and is one, enough of this kind of bashing of both Hillary and Bernie.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Tue Jun 14, 2016, 09:43 PM, and the Jury voted 2-5 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Same post in other part of thread. Why this one? Don't see it.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Alerter needs to read more carefully. Post does not insult Sanders; it insults Sanders supporters who would vote Libertarian over voting for HRC. And it should insult such people, if they exist.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: It's a joke, all two of them.
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

They oppose government or the "establishment" and advocate legalization of drugs. They are fiscally conservative and socially "laissez-faire." They oppose taxes of any kind, and they believe that family and friends -- not the government -- should provide for the elderly and the needy. Libertarians oppose expansion of social services, including education, social security, and health care. They are against government regulations and taxes, so I doubt they would be too interested in fighting climate change, breaking up the big banks, and providing free college. In fact, they are opposed to practically everything Bernie stands for.

Truthfully, I do not think Bernie's actual positions interested this faction very much. They are anti-establishment and they champion "individualism" (self-interest as opposed to the common good). They are predominantly white, mostly male, and relatively narcissistic. They have more in common with Ayn Rand and Rand Paul than they have with Bernie. They run candidates, but they end up voting solidly Republican. I think Bernie didn't care where his support came from, so long as he got it. I suspect that many young people at his rallies didn't know a whole lot or care a whole lot about his "Democratic Socialist" positions.

A political party is comprised of people who have similar core principles. If folks who don't share those principles can invade the party, then the message of the party gets muddled.
