He can be known as the vindictive old man from Vermont who didn't know when he was toast.

(15,496 posts)as the first Democratic primary loser never to concede.
But by then, most people will go "Who?"
Who really cares, even now? The kinds of choices he makes are not good ones. We really dodged a bullet.

(12,168 posts)It is already well past a reasonable time for him to do so, but bernie is extremely flawed and being gracious is not easy for him. He likely cannot admit the truth (that he lost fair and square) to himself, never mind to his supporters. I read that he is still doing conference calls to them. This is a man who cannot let go, and is demonstrating that he is unfit for high office for all to see--a little more with each passing day and stunt that he pulls.

(12,168 posts)Yesterday's successful filibuster shows that Democrats are in fine, functional form already, and our party will continue to do wonderful things with or without him--his choice, his legacy, his reasons--doesn't matter anymore.
LiberalFighter
(53,467 posts)And really considering that Hillary is coordinating the DNC with her campaign it really doesn't matter what he does. But the longer he hangs around being a disrupter the more he will be done.

(12,168 posts)Curiously, though...why did you think Saturday would bring Bernie 'round?
LiberalFighter
(53,467 posts)That should be the last mark for Sanders. But as anyone that looks at the facts know it was not the same back then. Much closer. And I'm beginning to wonder if maybe he is a sexist person.

(521 posts)How fitting, since the story is about a woman who tries to nab a man under false pretenses -- just like Sanders initially presented himself as one thing but ended up being the opposite. In this song (from Act 2), the character Ella has realized that the ruse has gone too far. The difference is that Sanders seems to lack such self-awareness to see how his actions are not only hurting others but himself, as well. But as the song aptly states (since many on here compared Sanders to the Pied Piper) "the piper must be paid."

(42,454 posts)Like a small storm, those who reject researching politics in all its complexity in favor of memes, dubious sourcing and what-ifs--as well as a profound lack of knowledge of basic civics--more and more conspiracy-minded individuals gather will around his name (they are already doing it)not good for his revolution, as his credibility will be shot. The revolution will be on the back pages of the Internet.
What a waste it would be.

(12,448 posts)to concede and endorse. When people have this much ego the longer they go on telling themselves they've won, or been cheated, they simply can't give up. I think that's where Bernie is. I hope I'm wrong, but it really doesn't matter for the election. Hillary and all of us will be just fine without him.

(68,868 posts)he doesn't care about making deals, or bringing people together, or working towards a common cause.
All he knows how to do is criticize, resist, and complain.
So, refusing to acknowledge the results of the voting is perfectly in line with who he is.

(3,854 posts)egotistical person. I don't think any of his stunts and "meetings" are to promote his "agenda" of free college, overturning Citizens United, universal health care and /or reigning in Wall Street. I think he just cannot deal with the fact that he lost...and that he got beat by (OMG) A GIRL!!!! (I remember guys like him from when I was in 7th grade.)He has been treated with kid gloves by the media, by the GOP, and by Hillary. I have noticed how quickly he loses his cool when journalists or pundits challenge him in even the smallest way. It is a character flaw that no one seems to call him out on...Yet we all know that Hillary (a woman) and President Obama (an African American) would NEVER be allowed to act that way. When Bernie does it, he is just a "little grumpy"...or most often it is just accepted.

(111 posts)But I think people inside dnc will start punishing him very soon if he's not out by convention. Senate dems aren't happy with him as it is. I think they will want to rather deal with his delegates inside the convention rather dealing with him.
