(2,577 posts)We are burying 49 more gun violence victims this week and those folks are worrying about the donations at a Hillary fundraiser????
Could they perhaps turn their attention to the work of getting Dems into the White House, Senate, and Congress. To me, that seems rather clutch at this point.

I wondered why Bernie was always going on and on about that $27 magical number?
At $27, you can donate 100 times to max the individual contribution limit.
Bernie won't need it - will he? - but in the general election season, the contribution limit of $2,700 starts over!

But let's play numerology and find something to be outraged about! Bravo!

(28,833 posts)I think it's pretty obvious that the number was selected intentionally, but I think it's more intended as a playful jab at Sanders than an OMG-MIDDLE-FINGER gesture.
Politicians use all kinds of things to get people to attend fundraisers. The people freaking out about this should probably remember that they are opponents, after all. Welcome to politics.
geek tragedy
(68,868 posts)really not that complicated.
Sanders is no longer an opponent, he's in the campaign's rear view mirror.

(28,833 posts)Politicians do all kinds of stuff to get people motivated, and I easily could see someone doing this.
I'll concede the point, though. The Sanders $27 thing was likely derived from the max and as others have noted, raising $2700/$27k etc., predates all of that.

(1,968 posts)I would've thought we'd move into Bargaining by now. Really.
I can't be the only one getting desperately tired of hearing about him. He lost, he's acting badly to stay in the news, but really...it's over, and he's yesterday's news. He has some slight remaining relevance until mid-July, but that's the end of it.
He's alienated too many people (including me, which is going some) to realistically head any effective "revolution." He had some good ideas, but now I'll wait until somebody else assumes the mantle. Elizabeth Warren, I'm looking at you here, although Brown or Blumenthal would be very nice, too.
Sorry for the rant.
